Dual monitors - Are they worth it? - Page 3

So assuming my video card can pull over 120fps on a certain game, I should be seeing 60fps on my 60hz monitor and 120fps on my 120hz monitor, correct? And I can successfully do this using one video card?

You can set the refresh rate for each monitor individually. I had a 120hz monitor next to a 60hz before I got my IPs panels and it was no problem....

Edit - Mind, you will only game on the 120hz. The other will be for multi-tasking...

Awesome. I'm almost set on getting one. Just a couple more questions. Will a second monitor drop my gaming performance(and to what degree?), even if I'm not gaming on it? Will the second monitor become black if I get into a game with the first? I have no problem alt tabbing, so I'll be using full screen. Will that effect my second monitor in any way? Are there any circumstances where the second monitor will be an issue for games, even when I'm not gaming on it? Thank you.

Also, I'm assuming if I'm getting a second monitor strictly for multi tasking it doesn't have to be of quality, right? A cheap one will do just fine, right?

Shouldn't really affect gaming and you can absolutely display other programs on the secondary screen while gaming. I usually run monitoring software on my second screen while gaming such as temps, gpu-z, etc. Can certainly be some cheapo monitor if you like (though I personally dislike mismatching monitors)...

What would you recommend? My current monitor is asus vg236h. I'm getting a second monitor of similar size, but how should it compare with the first? Like, would it be okay if it were half as good, or less, or should it be more?

I don't think it should affect your gameplay A lot but it will. And I do notice that my card running the two monitors get hotter then running one.
