No thanks.
Sure it's a top tier GTX 680 but it's not quite in the same league

I was not aware the Lighting was on Sale..

Craftsmanship? the only thing the lighting has better is Chokes.. and DL DVI..

Better overclocking No it is not if both Bios are flashed on both cards it is luck of the Draw... you do not know what your going to get.

And i was comparing a 550$ SoC to a 600$ Lighting cause that was the prices last time i looked

It is the only Gtx 680 that is almost in the same league as the lighting aswell.

If a lighting is 500$ is is clearly the best choice to make at that price point..
But do not Fan boi the cards and stray from the facts.

I've yet to see a Hall of Fame card breach 1400MHz on the core coupled with a fat memory overclock while there are some 680 Lightning samples in the Lightning club that have. I'm sure they are out there but lack sufficient data as opposed to the 680 Lightning which is a proven overclocker.

Lack of dual-link DVI is the deal breaker especially if you are running a 120Hz> monitor or a resolution greater than 1920x1200. This forces users to buy either a display port cable (Assuming monitor supports DP) or minihdmi to DVI cable. Both of which drives up the cost when user could have just gone 680 Lightning.

Great card but more thought should have been put into its overall design much like the 7970 Lightning.

Mine did 1450mhz.. with Lightings F3 bios with 1.28v

Ive seen this card hit 1850mhz...... there just not popular enough in the states to have a ton of people buying them to know.

It is the same card as every other ref card but some have better coolers.. Msi twin frozr Gigabyte wind force 3 as examples.

And 450$ is not a good price for that card if u got it used id say more like 380 = 400 used for a ref cooled card.

Because the truth it is no where near the best...

It is a Ref designed card every Nvidia parter Asus gigabyte Galaxy etc make the exact same cards it is Nvidias plans there is nothing diff besides one may have a better cooler on it then another...

Only cards you can say are better are cards that are not all the same like a ref card such as non ref designed cards where the partners design the PCBs.

So no hate just truth.

To make it simple.....

Evga Asus Galaxy MSI Gigabyte all get the plans from Nvidia they are all the same designs.. They then send these plans off to who ever makes there PCBS and there all made exactly the same as each other.. So when buying a Ref card it is always best to go with what ever is cheapest cause there all the same.
