No other AMD processor line up has offered so little value for the price. Every line up since the Athlon 64 days have been worse comparative to Intel, however, what you got for your money when you went AMD was relatively equivalent in value proposition vs Intel's line up. The Core i5 /i7 Sandy Bridge line up is both not much more expensive and dramatically superior in every way to Bulldozer. Demanding proof is almost comical. The one really positive thing about Bulldozer is that the AM3+ platform, despite its rather poor sata3 controller, is fairly full featured vs 1155 which is relatively neutered.

You must have missed the memo and all the reviews from last year . These things pull enough power from the wall to power a medium sized town. Overclock your processor to 4.5ghz @ 1.38-1.4v, that should keep your watts in check and give you decent performance. Under full load @ 4.7ghz and GPU's overclocked I am at 600 watts from the wall, I idle at 220 watts. Bottom line these things draw a lot of power from the wall, think of it as having a small nuclear reactor in your PC. The best thing you can do now is buy a better cooler and overclock the mess out of that chip, that is what I did.

Good Luck and keep supporting AMD thumb.gif.

The game itself can only max out only 2 cores. And this affinity setting was optional when it was first introduced. Now it's automatically detected.

Intel seems good on these games because they promote ancient coding thus single core performance. Their coding on all their games predate to early 2001-2003. The other games that intel seems faster are the very bad ported games from consoles, which again can only use 2 cores to max biggrin.gif

The early reviews of BD had low resolution benchmarks to show the performance GAP even further, it's the reason for some people to stay away from AMD even thou they run higher resolution and the gap closes dramatically on higher res biggrin.gif BD starting prices didn't help either with bad rep from reviewers.

aaaaaaaaand you missed my point... the other guy said "FX" is the worst performing out of all AMD's processors..... I was simply calling him out on his blind hate for AMD.... I've said it a million times and I'll say it again... put an i5 and a BD side by side with the same gpu etc. in unmarked cases and more than 80% wouldnt notice a diffrence.... I play games not benchmark, I also have fun overclocking, I also dont care how much power my PC is sucking out of that wall either... if it uses moar power to run it must be better right??.... lol joking point is, if your basing your purchases on power comsumption then why not get a laptop?

FX-8150 or Bulldozer is basically a poor man's chip. Sure, it games just fine when coupled with a high-end video card but frame for frame it trails Intel counterparts. A staggering amount of proof can be found with a simple Google search.

3-8fps isn't worth the extra hundred or so I'd have to spend for something similar IMO my 2cents.gif

Put aside the programming disasters like Blizz games and bad ports, there's nothing wrong with BD. AMD did a complete overhaul on their architecture, I'm stunned whoever hyped BD to stars only to be disappointed at the end. Funny enough, no native DX11 game favors Intel because dx11 slaps gpus like ......

Not worth it to you but worth it to others. Also, 3-8 frames is putting it lightly.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/FX8150/11.html

And this was with fixes aimed to improve Bulldozer performance. Gaming also isn't the only area where Bulldozer will trail Intel counterparts

TECHPOWERUP: "Applying the patch to fix a core schedule bug in Windows 7 also didn't improve performance much, and it is doubtful Windows 8 will change things for better."

"Either way, AMD should have given us a competitive new architecture some time ago, and now that they finally did, they are playing the "architecture of the future" card and wants us to wait for full benefits of Bulldozer's architecture."

Awesome! But meet Broadwell thumb.gif

I am very happy with my fx-8120, I don't know how many more fps I need in BF3 on ultra @ 1080p on a 64 player map, my rig simply obliterates that game. Dirt 3 Maxed out at 113fps, I guess with an Intel CPU I would be hitting 180fps. Every time I look at the fps counter I just laugh thinking of how little paid for the cpu($150 US), I have no regrets. Bottom-line with a decent overclock the FX-8XXX chips will more that hold their own.
