why did i just buy a macbook pro ?

So i was out drinking at college and i seemed to have come home with a macbook pro. my bank Chase called me to make sure it was a legit purchase lol because i have alerts set up. i have worked hard all summer to make very few thousand dollars and i wanted to save or invest it. i bought the 15 inch one with the nvidia gpu. now then i did not have a laptop before this i was just using my transformer infinity for school.

knowing all that this laptop meets my requirements
i5-7
under 5 lbs perferable around 3 lbs
nice screen thats not just 1356x720 or whatever the resolution damn pcs keep putting out
close to 6 hours battery life.
graphics card able to run battlefield on med at 40 fps or guild wars maxed out
backlit keyboard

so basically it has the specs. and the speakers are good. i mainly need a laptop to fool around photoshop, games, but most importantly i need it to make music on the go since i am traveling a lot more now. with those requirements can i get a better PC version? this is my first Apple product and its over prices as all hell. i dont understand why all the Starbucks boys writing a fake novel on their Macs make this laptop seem to be SO cool. and guess what the 15 inch model is HEAVY. but the 13 inch configure sucks. HD 3000 graphics sure was cool back in '09 but not anymore. so its up to you guys to determine if i should stick with the laptop or return it and get like an asus zenbook prime or something

Vaio S series 15" might be a good replacement. Not quite as powerful, but it measures up. 1080p IPS matte screen is a win, and the 640M LE graphics it comes with can be overclocked with a BIOS hack to the same level as the GT 650M or beyond. It's also a bit cheaper than the MBP and lighter as well. Don't get their new model with Windows 8 though, it's overpriced almost as bad or worse as Macs lol... You have to go into their clearance section and get the Windows 7 version, it has exactly the same everything except the new version has 100MHz bump in their quad core option (i7-3632QM instead of i7-3612QM). It will be much cheaper that way as the CPU upgrades are discounted, and plus I've found I don't like W8 anyway tongue.gif
http://store.sony.com/c/S_NB_VAIO_Clearance/en/c/S_NB_VAIO_Clearance

Pick the S series 15.5" customizable config. With an i7-3612QM, GT 640M LE 2GB, and a Blu-ray drive it's $1150, much less than the mac, or $100 less without the blu ray. Then you can order 4GB of ram and an SSD from newegg and install those yourself, still for much cheaper and better spec'd in most ways than the Mac.

nice sony laptop dude. good suggestions. i am trying REALLY HARD to justify this purchase guys. a grand and 700 for a laptop ? WOW. that could buy me so many things you know ? im a young dude intrested in dance music productiong , and going to college makes me really make me tight on my cash. sure i made enough this past summer but it doesnt mean i should spend it all on the laptop right ? on the other hand all the top Djs are using mac oddly enough. such a crazy world. so far i have had it for 12 hours and i dont understand why people think its so much better than lets say a samsung series 7. you go on safari here the same way u go on like google chrome on windows. why am i paying 800 more for this mac ? is it the looks or stable software ?

I think that Apple has the best quality laptops by far, well, barring the business line of Thinkpads.

Also, resale value on Mac laptops is much higher, so much so that you actually end up paying the same amount of money once you calculate the (buy - sell) cost after 2/4 years. Assuming you keep it in good condition of course.

If you can't afford it, obviously return it, but it's a great laptop that's worth the price imo.

1) as yeah if you keep it and sell it down the track you will get a good return over most other brands..
2) maybe if you return it have a look at the lenevo range and find something in your budget that meets your needs..

but as much as people bash apple, they do make good products so if you can justify the costs keep it or look at or 2)

Certainly Apple has good quality, but I don't know if that's worth an extra $600-700... I mean that's a whole second computer right there. Also I don't think you should put too much weight on resale value in your decision... As you aren't buying the laptop so you can sell it tongue.gif. Plus even if the cost evens out a few years down the road due to resale value, you'll have a nice amount of extra cash upfront in your pocket rather than in a few years when you've got a steady income.
