3DMark score with HD 7850 - Page 2

My question is how to disable it, at least temporarily? As changing even 1 MHz from the stock results in noticeable performance drop, that means the VRAM somehow is getting into ECC mode too early by a false signal (provided that my problem is associated with ECC). So wanna see if disabling it solves the problem. So how to change that? I've gone to BIOS and found nothing about ECC. Maybe it's there but named differently...

From what i can see it cant be disabled as it inplace to correct the errors cuased by you vRAM reciving data too fast... that is trying to find if you can on google... thinking.gif

Look at that stubass:

http://www.flipkart.com/gigabyte-ga-h61m-s2p-motherboard/p/itmd636ezzs5kfxq

I have this motherboard. And it says ECC Support: Non-ECC in specifications.

Doesn't that imply the ECC option which helps correct data corruption is permanently disabled? And if it is so then my problem with memory clock is caused by something else...

I don't know why is this happening. As the slightest change in mem clock causes performance drop, that implies somehow the graphics card starts throttling whenever I do it. I've observed similar throttling when I overclock and overvolt too much without increasing the power control settings.. After a certain extent the frame rate drops noticeably. This indicates somehow the gpu is getting a signal throttle whenever I change the memory clock.

I however feel that there must have been a solution to that... probably a tricky and short one...

Any possible solution from anyone will be much appreciated.

i think what they mean there is non-ECC system RAM.. as you know graphics cards have their own BIOS so it has nothing to do with the mobo supported RAM

Ya I mixed up... thanks. how to have access to gpu bios? As far as I know there isn't any standard proceduce accessing the gpu bios unlike mobo bios. So can u suggest some procedure and/or software that can help me access that?
Also I've read that flashing the bios to a different card(i.e. making a HD 6950 to a 6970) voids warranty. Do accessing it and/or changing something in it do it too?

@krabs, thanks.

AFAIK programs that access the BIOS are programs like CCC, Afterburner, Trixx, Asus GPU tweak etc hence how you overclock it.. i dont know any programs that i think you are trying to do..

about voiding warranty i am not sure, i beleive you can flash the BIOS on some cards such as 7950/7850 to 7970/7870 but i know with at least the 7900 series you get some performance increase but shaders are locked at the H/W level so no shader unlocking...

thats how i see it, also i am new to CPU overclocking so this is what i read trying to learn myself redface.gif
