I am running those graphics cards and was ready to pull the plug on purchasing, but not sure what to expect. Do you see the BIOS on bootup? Also, what happens if you run a game that does not support the native resolution? Like an older game that can only run at 1920x1200 max resolution. There is no scaling built in?
Cheers

I can verify that the Sapphire 5850 Xtreme works flawlessly with the monitor. I have a gigabyte uefi bios, no problems. Also bios POST is shown as well so it should work on a non UEFI bios as well. As other people commented, games can run at lower resolutions. I am running Dishonored at 1920X1200.

Also while we are on the subject, anyone with the crossover 30q5, if you I would set up a 16:9 resolution, would the monitor have the black bars or stretch weirdly? Or that can be done via the nvidia control panel (got a gtx680)?

At 16:9 resolutions two black bars appear at top and bottom of the screen as it would be expected.

That is great to hear! I have a newer Asrock board with uefi bios also. I am running a HD5970 HIS card in xfire with a Sapphire HD5850. I guess mileage may vary, but I think I will bite in the next week or so, and will post back my findings. It seems the scaling can be done by the graphics card, so should be no problem there. (Why am I running a 5970 with a 5850 in xfire?? I simply had the 5850 lying around, so why not? Should be plenty of power to drive that 2560x1600 beast....microstutter is another topic altogether, tho!)
Thanks, DSA

I bought the monitor prior to checking the compatible graphics cards (for DVI-D). When i saw that the 5850 had DVI-I i got so paniced that i bought a DVI-I to DVI-D converter, and a DisplayPort to DVI-D converter. Needless to say that both remained unused. Maybe not all 5850 brands can output correctly to the monitor, that's why they say that the 5850 is not fully supported. In the end all work like they should. Expect first impresions once you have it delivered.

Just a sidenote: It was a little strange for me at first, to get used to the 16:10 ratio of the screen + the size of the monitor. I 've been using a 24" 16:9 BenQ for the last 2+ years. I guess my eyes got accustomed with the 16:9 ratio after all this time tongue.gif

Just thought I would ask what should I expect as a charge from US customs to bring this monitor in the US? Or is this already taken care of by the ebay seller? I just need to plan before I plunk down on the purchase.

Also, a seller, lightnspace is offering a "pixel perfect" version. I have read the so-so comments regarding the 27 incher and this seller, but anyone had good experience with the Pixel Perfect 30q5?

Cheers.

Sorry again for the duplicate post....I need more coffee....

I don't think that you will have to pay anything extra for customs but someone from US or even the seller would have a more solid answer to that question. I'm sure someone has answered that already at the 27q-LED-P thread. With a previous discussion i had with seller AW he/she told me that if perfect pixel was what i wanted I better go with the 27 Crossover, i don't know why. Personaly i don't think that the perfect pixel guarantee justifies the extra $.

I had a good experience with non Perfect Pixel 30q5 without bad pixels.
But seller was another.

Hi all first post but ive been reading this thread and pressing refresh hourly for weeks:) Thx with my 30q5 Pro Black purchase!
After research and emails with a shortlist of AccessoriesWhole, DreamSeller and BCC-
For the model I wanted, and also looking at feedback for those that had a bad experience. I went with AccessoriesWhole. Great experience.
Purchased via paypal for $533USD. Waited for the latest batch of 30q5 Pro Black, which separately dreamseller had told me is the newer version than the standard 30q with white back casing.
I've been really really impressed by the quality both screen and especially casing.
Coming from a late model 24" imac it looks very similar to that. Prob not of the same standard as latest 27". But size matters, and 30 inches to me beats 27" or I would have got local Asus 27" PB278Q- for under $700 with warranty and inputs.

Coz thing is just got a new i7 16gb fusion drived mac mini and wanted a nice screen for it but no way paying $1500 for a 30" and not a fan of dell anyway as im a mac and android guy. Excuse my indoor Note 2 n7100 pics:

So I could have paid more for the other Crossover 3020MDP talked about here alot - But it would have cost me extra $150.
Instead I ended up spending that amount (before refunding the apple one) on active dual link adapters.
Funnily the apple dual link dvi-d with firmware 1.3 is the one which people warrant as best... but i didnt find that one successful. so that $120 is getting refunded from apple australia.
The $73 kanex c30 well reviewed amazon, i bought cheaper at adorama.com- http://www.adorama.com/KAMDPC30.html
Worked immediately. I also bought a $9 tea kettle power cord and so far my powerbrick hasnt got beyond mid temperature which is great.. esp when u read about 300 Sparta 30" reviews of overheating followed by Death Screen. Also AW forgot the Aussie powerplug so make sure u confirm thats included.
The included DVI-d cables worked better than the ones i bought.
So basically the relevant costs ended up being $533USD ($522 + paypal costs) + $9 kettle cord + $73.5 kanex c30 dual link adapter + free usa ship + $8.50 USA mail redirect + $28 ship = $110USD = $649AUD total shipped. Definitely getting 2 more of these and taking them vertical!
I haven't seen any dead pixels. In fact all i did was slightly press increase the brightness.. and that was after a few hours on monitor..
Looks great to me, dead similar to my iMac if slightly less glossed but im happy with that sitting in front of this device all day (video is on the samsung 6 series 100hz lcd).
1080p vertical TNT second monitor samsung running google tv hisense pulse and tv pic in pic and asus o!play mini media player.. now looks super short....
Thx again to this forum for my lurking and reading tips and insight!
I'd highly highly recommend AccessoriesWhole and also had great interactions with DreamSeller. I'd say read thru their feedback, esp neutral and negatives plus any mentions (edit/find/crossover) of the brand you are looking at. Alot of people get a DOA monitor but then give 5 stars when they get a good reply. Thanks again.
And dont be scared if you are on Mac, just get a Kanex C30 and good to go!
My Flickr unboxing shots and slide show below. (photos from my note 2 in a dark room so not great screenshots, but i guarantee the screen looks great..)

Hi benbarren,

Thanks for the feedback. You got the one without tempered glass right? Have you used the screen much with Word, i.e. text on a white background. I work with Word docs as well as emailing etc and am worried about aggressive AG coating and any sparkle effect.

Could you explain how US mail redirect works? And why you shipped via that route? Did this affect customs duty paid by you? Was your monitor marked as a gift?

Many thanks,
