The Sparta, or the one with "tempered glass" is glossy. There also seem to be two versions of the 30Q5, one with white metal back, and the "Black" unit with all black metal. I bought my Black unit from accessorieswhole. Shipping speed was phenomenal! Really only 40 hours from purchase to delivery to Ohio. Your speed will certainly vary tho.
Cheers.

agreed. dream-seller told me the 30q5 pro black is newer than the white one.. so thats what i endedup getting from AW for $533... from a new Feb 2013 batch and mine 2 weeks in hasnt had one shut down or overheat or bad pixel.. and using a mac mini and Kanex C30 dual dvi-d adapter $73 from adorama... Im glad i didnt get the multi-input version with more points of failure and $150+ more smile.gif

This monitor seems to have a (a newer?) LG IPS Q5 panel opposed to the other 1600p like Yamakasi Sparta for example. So is it still a wide gamut monitor like the rest 30" out there? I don't like the AG coating but this one goes for really cheap right now.

Just got a 30Q5 pro and I am very impressed. The stand is great I was surprised at the quality of it it is almost as good as my Dell stand. The monitor next to the 30Q5 is a Dell 2408WFP.

Does it have such an extreme blue tint in real life or is that the camera? The 27" models have been known to have the same issue is did the Achieva 30" PRAD reviewed.

It is a cool white on the 30Q5 but my Dell is on the warm side with a 102% NTSC color gamut. I barely notice the differences when i look at them in fact i like the cool look of the 30Q5 better. Out of the box the monitor had a much worse blue tint than in the picture that is with some adjustments from the nvidia control panel. I would also say the 30Q5 does not have as large of a gamut as the 2408WFP even though it states it has the same. Out of the box the monitor had a much worse blue tint It is still larger that the 72% of the 27" monitors.

Mine arrived today (took about 4 days, including a sunday). very impressed with postage.

If anyone is doubtful over whether 30 vs. 27 is really that bigger difference, coming from a 27inch 2560X1440 resolution panel myself, I think the difference is huge...

I'm going to set both of my monitors up side by side with the 27inch in portrait. The 30inch comes with a stand that, as most of you know, can tilt/swivel/rotate etc etc. but the 27's stand does nothing but tilt. So, I'm currently measuring them both up for a stand swap to see if I can get rotate functionality out of my 27.. it may fit, it may not..thumb.gif
Otherwise I might invest in a monitor arm for the 27...but if this works then I'd prefer to save the cash.
I'll let you know how I go...

My 30Q5 also had a strong blue-green tint out of box. It was quite prominent on power up, but lessened some when the monitor warmed up (no pun intended). I tried various tweaks with AMD's catalyst control panel and software gamma tools, but could not get it satisfactory. (I don't have a spyder or equivalent calibrator device). What I found that worked for me was changing the "color management" in windows 7. Instead of the default, I used the one titled "Apple" and it has made a great difference to my eye. Of course, your results will obviously vary.

BTW my power brick gets extremely hot! Is that to be expected?
