Crossover 30Q5 Pro Monitor Club~ - Page 10

Don't really know any of the ebay vendors. igfmarket doesn't specify a warranty, and returns, you pay shipping. Also, no mention of a pixel guarantee.

I don't see sufficient feedback based just on big monitors for any of the vendors to get a good picture of success rates; where there is monitor-specific feedback it seems to be at a higher negative rate than the vendors overall 98% + positive feedback. Some of the vendors do offer 1 year warranty, vendor paid return shipping, and have enough monitors sold to give some comfort ... but I don't see why many would prefer a 27" monitor over the Auria which you can see at Microcenter and return if defective.

I really want to spring for a 30Q5 ... need a big screen programming monitor for my alternate workspace across the room from my main desk with a pair of 1920 x 1200s ... but hard to justify it with information at hand.

I am looking for a 30-inch high resolution monitor for Photoshop, not for gaming. Does anyone know if the on-screen-display (OSD) on any of the Crossover or other Korean monitors has color calibration settings similar to the Dell U3011?

There is no on-screen display on most of the Korean monitors, my 30q5 included. Color calibration must be done with a external device in conjunction with your graphics card's color adjustment suite.

Edit: that was imprecisely phrased: You can adjust color via your graphics card, but for professional level adjustment you will want a colorimeter.

alcal I know the 27q is very fast for both input lag and response time. since you can personally confront the 27q with your 30q5, how is the comparison regarding input lag and ghosting?
I'd like to know how is it for games, since it seems great for everything else.

My CRT TVs have glossy screens, and the reflection off them is annoying even just with a small lamp. I don't remember noticing reflections of my old CRT monitor, but I can't take that chance with a LCD from Korea, even if they would do an exchange, it's probably $150 to ship back. And it seems all the matte 27" are gone anyway.

I can't actually test them side by side, but I have had no noticeable ghosting on the 30q5. I tried using this test and didn't notice any sort of afterimage at all.

Great! So now last detail which is keeping me from muying it immediately is a warning I've read: no adapters can be used in the DVI-D port of the monitor.

I was planning to buy a male DVI-D -> HDMI female adapter so as to have a normal hdmi port available everytime I wanted to connect the monitor to a win8 tablet or everything else. But I've read that since it is a "by-pass monitor" (no idea of what that means) you can only use with the DVI-D output coming from your desktop pc.

Is this true?

I can't really test that, but I remember when we tried to set up my laptop up with my roommates 27q a few months ago, we couldn't get it to work with any combination of adapters we had. We didn't try a DVI-HDMI female adapter, but I suspect it wouldn't work unfortunately.

ah that's not good news.. and also I don't understand why it doesn't work. A signal is going through its DVI-D port, no matter what happened before to that signal it should be the same when entering the monitor..

I wish I could tell you why. I don't know enough about monitors though.
