Flash Advance Linker Xtreme on USB problems

I just purchased one with the intent of backing up the game saves I worked so long and hard to get when I was younger. The problem is, there's not a ton of documentation for this thing, and I'm having trouble getting the USB drivers to work for it. I have no idea where my parallel cable is, and even if I did, I don't have the appropriate power supply for this thing (I think). Could anyone be of any assistance?

Okay, I hooked it up to my old computer that's running XP, and it works just fine. The problem is is that it only reads save games from GBA games, not GB games, which is the entire reason I purchased it. Anyone have a work around for this?
