Complete NOOB in WC. Thoughts and comments?

hi all,

as the title says, I am a complete noob when it comes to watercooling. The reason for my post is to gain some knowledge on watercooling based on what you(experienced watercoolers) have to pass onto myself. I have been actively overclocking my past CPU's for several years with success. I even lapped my first CPU an E6400 which is still running on my mom's computer. I currently have an i5 2500k @4.8 system which is aircooled. I want to finally jump ships and give WC a try. Reason being is because i want to further push my cpu but i dont want temps to go above 80 at load and also i want my PC more silent when im gaming or doing anything else.

so to start off, a couple of questions....

should i go with a complete water cooling kit such as the following kit Raystorm EX240 or build a custom loop.

is the tubing included in this kit sufficient for my cpu and possibly a GPU in the future?

i would also like to add another rad(120mm) to the loop in the future as well.

If theres any tips or feedback you can provide i would greatly appreciate it. Any guides i should read/watch?

If you have any questions just shoot.
Thank you in advance!!

I went with the raystorm rx 240 and love it. The tubing was easy to work with and i really like the res, i think you will be ok with the 240 rad cooling a gpu and cpu but adding another could'nt hurt, but the rx 240 should be more than enough to cool your 2500k it does a great job cooling my 3770k.

You need to go into your profile and fill out your rig specs. As for the ex kit i don't think there will be a much of a diference between the two rads the ex are newer i was actually thinking about picking up one of those rads to add to my loop.

EX Rads are really good at above 1200 rpm fans with high static pressure. They can just about match their full thickness RX cousins. I'm using a 420mm EX in my loop and it performs like a champ. But if you want to add a GPU in the future (depending on your GPU) you might want to go for a EX360 kit as it should be enough for most 2500k + GPU solutions except 480s/580s maybe.

Im most likely going to get a 700series nvidia next year well after theyre launched. A 360 rad i dont think would fit in my case since i am using one of the hdd bays and would be using all the 5.25 bays. I have vortex cougars and scythe sflex fans right now.

Alejandro.
