I dont see why it wont considering people fold on cpus and gpus for months at a time an the +12 is the hardest hit rail in the psu when doing that.

Looks great Big_Lig great idea.

For a sub you probly would need to use more then just a psu cause it does draw a ton of amps use something like cars use so they dont have the bats run down.

lol i did that ~ 20 years ago to power a amp to my sub box then 8 years later i put that sub into my 1st car. works good,

Nice to know this is possible... I have tossed around the idea of having a fully working pc with the added bonus of a car stereo but often wondered if the psu would be sufficient. redface.gif
Now that I have seen this you can be expecting a worklog/prototype log soon from me!! thumb.gif

I think a normal car alternator generates around 50-70A.

Are you thinking of running the car stereo from the same PSU as the PC?
Please post a link here to any worklogs, I would be very interested to see it. smile.gif

some users with large subs in cars also use caps to store up volts for when the sub hits hard that could work if you used a psu to power it not sure.

Well I was... but only since i would be using low powered speakers that would not make the stereo work all that hard. Guess we will just have to see when i get done digging a few more parts out. thumb.gif

Its a shame that a head unit is just over an inch bigger than a 5.25" drive bay.
