Man, here I was, wishing for years that Nidec would get their asses into gear and make a 140 mm
GT, and then they go and stop making the 120 versions I wanted before I actually got a chance to
get some. Splendid! doh.gif

Also liking the space usage. Not cluttered, but making use of what space you have.

The reasons SR-2s are expensive is there's no easy upgrade path for us at an affordable price. In anything multithreaded I tear apart the 5960X, so that's not really an option. I'll also have to replace the twelve 4 GB DDR3 modules I have with eight 4 GB DDR4 modules, which is a downgrade, or eight 8 GB DDR4 modules, which is a massive expense.

In a nutshell, this will be slower:

Core i7-5960X CPU @ $ 1,049
Asus X99-E WS motherboard @ $ 499
8x 8 GB DDR4-2133 @ $ 579

That's $ 2,127 to downgrade, I wouldn't pay anything in to downgrade so I need to get very close to that amount for my board, CPUs and RAM.

soo i have had this motherbord for years... i still have not figired out how to get my ram clocks up. 800mhz STILL, kinda makes the Dominator 1600 GT seem to be a waste

LaSpecs http://valid.canardpc.com/s2dx34

becase my main hard drives are on a SAS controller they dont show up here. 2x segate cheeta 15k.7, FTW!

on an old asus i found dumpster diving There was plain as day a memory overclock option in the bios... im beginning to question if i even can on the sr-2, considering i cant even hit the 1333 my cpu is supposed to support.

and i guess have a pic of the central heating of the house.

1 more thing,

Did i get the deal of the century or what? this was new! seems like they go for more than this used now.

if its signal tweeks you dont have a screen of that. also i have no ideah what the signal tweeks to and have been to afraid to just play around because of the prices of everything. this is my first overclocking motherboard and before this it was all GPU OC for me.

Thinking about using some delidded x5690s and was wondering if I had to remove the cpu retention brackets to do direct die cooling?

The x5690s I am looking at don't have lids

what is direct die cooling? sounds deadly.
