You could hook it up to a fan controller instead of the motherboard

Anyone here with SR-2 and OCed X5680s would care to share their voltages? I had my system running stable for weeks at 4.0 (finally!) but today SR2 decided to reset its settings and I didn't write down the final settings I used frown.gif!!!

Thanks a lot!

Are you WC'ing the MB? If so, send me your current specs and I will send you my entire configuration. I have been stable at 4.3 for a couple of years with everything WC'ed.

I am now thinking of upgrading from two 780's to newer cards, for some reason I cannot let go of this monster! I will have to search a few forums and determine if the latest nvidia cards will function correctly.

Rocky

EDIT: Oops, I just read your previous post. The MB runs hot without WC'ing, but I will check for you tomorrow.

I'm kind of getting sick of this platform... Running Quads and can't get them above 4G (200x20). At that point I'm getting 1213 in Cinebench which is just beating 5G 6700Ks, much less 5820Ks.

The SR2 is a little hard to push much past 200fsb without cooling the chipset. I would grab a set of X5680 cpus. My sr2 was at 4.5 most of the time on air with a pair of X5680s. was able to bench no problem at 5GHZ+ on LN2. I really miss my old SR2 setup.

your fan makes a noticable amount of noise? i have never herd mine and i dont have a case. noise level from loudest to quietest goes GPU1 > GPU2 > CPUfans1-4 > 15kSASDrives > HDD Fan > SAS Controller Fan > SR-2 Chip set Fan. but even when i ran 1 xeon l5506 and a gtx 480 off of 1 80gb 10k sata drive i could still only here my north bridge if speed was above 80% witch it would only hit if i forced in BIOS, or made a really aggressive fan curve.

am i being addressed here? because my name is randomly spelled wrong here. and still in the dark about memory OC, but its summer and i have stopped all over clocking i don't care till next fall. but one thing i dont get about cpu over clocking is how do you tell when its time to rais voltage? i do it randomly, on gpu i just run an artifact scanner and if artifacts then voltages goes up. on cpu i just got, do i blue screen under load?
i just got a new sas controller and hopefully this weekend i can work on reinstalling server 08 datacentre and get off the god awful windows 10. but this adapter card is screwy and needs a driver to run, hoping i can load the driver off a flash drive during setup. for the first time ever my 15k drives are un crippled by a damaged 3gb/s controller. still dont get why the sr-2 couldn't of had sas built in like the sr-x.
