Problem with XP-Lubuntu dual boot, GRUB error - Page 4

It's a WD 500GB Green SATA HDD

Here's the screenshot

Computer Management

EaseUs Partition Manager

EDIT: Although the EaseUs partition screen shows free space before each Linux partition, I didn't leave any free space when partitioning during the Lubuntu installation

Thanks

Hmm, that's a big worrying. I'd suggest deleting all the Linux partitions, and see what GParted & Windows makes of that. It should show 1 partition of 232.88, and the rest as free. Depending on how much RAM you've got, you could forgo the swap partition and just make 1 Linux partition for /, it's not ideal but might get this working. The only cause I can think of right now, is that Windows did something funny to the partition table when it installed frown.gif

Just delete the partiton

I will try to install it later with only the /, but it's alright if it doesn't work, because I will upgrade my system soon and I will do a complete format/Dban? on this HDD to reinstall the OS. I only reformat the 1st partition last time I change to Vista, so I guess if most thing didn't work, the problem would be with the HDD partition.

So that looks good - how does GParted look? If you try a single / partition, does it want to take all the remaining space, or is there that random bit in the middle?

If you plan to do a "complete format", I'd suggest deleting the entire partition table instead of just the partitions, in case the error is in the table geometry somewhere

Just tried, no swap, same problem. I'm pretty tired of it now and I should wait until I upgrade my computer, then I will try to dual boot Linux again. Anyway, thanks smile.gif

Hmm, a bit disappointed we couldn't get it fixed, needed a real expert in here!
I'm still confident it could be fixed, I've run out of knowledge here and don't really want to be taking risks with the Windows partition, sorry man frown.gif

Nevermind, a computer upgrade is on the way (hope so tongue.gif) so I am going to do a complete HDD wipe, just a matter of time smile.gif. If TF2 for Linux are available I might just switch the Linux completely thumbsupsmiley.png It's pretty much the only game I play now.

It's not there yet, but fingers crossed Valve are on the case! I'd re-purchase it for Linux if I had to, would be an awesome thing to have
