xTech 600W Power supply

Thread Starter
I have an xTech green 600W power supply in my sig rig. Whenever I turn on the power supply the keyboard lights up and stays lit according to how I used it last. Then the HDD LED turn on for a split second then shuts off. There have been two occasions where the PC would not even power on. Yes I know I should get a better PSU, but my question is, what is the problem I am experiencing.?

When my daughter's computer was acting up and I suspected the PSU, first thing I did is buy a good PSU and test with it. If the problem goes away, keep the new PSU. For a good cheap PSU I went with the Thermaltake TR2 600W for $60. That is unless, you have a spare kicking around.

You're either experiencing a short-circuit inside of the PSU and a protection tripping (indicating the unit is dead) or an incompatibility problem.

There are many TR2 600w units out there. Most of them are not good.

The only one worth purchasing was the TR-600P

I used the Thermaltake to overclock my new build and then switched to my Corsair ax850W, after I established all my stable overclocks, details in my build log in sig. Yes the Corsair ax is more expensive and it's suppose to be a much better PSU, but did act funny in sleep mode (which I had since disabled), so it's relative.

I wouldn't get the VP450 if I were you, it's not that great. This one is just $5 more, same power on the 12V but this one has Active PFC and it's 80 Plus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371029 It isn't that the VP-450 is terrible, its just out dated. If you could, can you post pics of the xTech PSU? I'm curious to see the internals.
