Anyone as excited as I am about Chris Roberts 'Star Citizen'? - Page 46

CR made some pretty good points in his latest 'Letter'. especially when he countered the Pay2Win arguments that keep cropping up. as he said, no one is making you buy those items, and they give no advantage at all to you in-game. they are designed to be there to help those that won't get the time in to play the game and earn the items properly.

but otherwise all those items will be made available in-game. with in-game earned credits. that is not Pay2Win and I'm sorry if anyone still thinks it is, you're a fool.

he even re-iterated his statement from the beginning, that this game will be a skill-based "rock, scissors, paper" approach to combat. meaning just because your ship is bigger and has shinier toys, doesn't mean you will win a fight if you don't have the skills to pull it off. in one of the Jump Point magazines, there is a short story about an unnamed navy hero (this is game fiction btw) who while flying a Hornet took down a squad of 3 Vanduul fighters solo, no problems. CR is smart, by writing little stories like this, he is not simply injecting war hero mentality into the community, but also making a clever statement that "hey, if you got the skills, it can be done"

you are absolutely right that this is not pay2win, but please in future try to avoid calling people fools, as they are less likely then to hear out your arguments smile.gif

then again even a hornet has zero chance against a connie with 96 rockets or was it 78 smile.gif on other thought why would any ship have a legal reason attacking a merchant vessel smile.gif

haha nah sorry this time going to stand by my point.

regarding Hornet vs Connie...there was discussion on this a long time ago on the RSI forums. some good points were made, namely that the Connie cannot be manually flown AND have control over guns at same time. you would need either an NPC/AI officer to man the turrets, or some friends to sit in.

therefore, it stands to reason that a highly skilled and armed Hornet may actually have a pretty good chance of taking down a Connie solo, depening on the situation. seems they are really pushing for an "anything can happen" approach.
