And Josh, have you tried adding nomodeset to the boot parameters?

It was the first time I'd used a touch screen in my life. Forgive me.

Ok nomodeset did nothing, so I did install xubuntu 12.04 and it is 99% working. Just sound is borked, but I will fix that later.

However I want unity, so ran:

sudo apt-get install unity

However I have to run "unity" from command line to turn XFCE into unity, which is annoying as it doesn't have the purple theme and misaligns the resolution a tiny bit but it' still noticeable. I wondering if there is any way possible to make it boot straight into unity?

Cheers
