I've thought that a few times....

There are actually far greater benefits under the surface to letting customers keep the games, rather than punishing customers.

Don't forget the largest of them all... CAG

Neogaf had over 3000 posts as well. Much higher than ours. The ocean is big out there.

It kind of does seem that way. I mean, think about it... Wasn't the survey about people that don't use Origin often? Or that don't use it anymore? Then all of the sudden, this promo code gets released to the net and can be used by everyone. Sounds fishy to me. Seems like they wanted a ton of new users, and they think that by giving out some cheaper games, people will see that Origin isn't that bad and decide to keep it and use it for future purchases.
EA...super-dumb....or super-smart?? thinking.gif

It's true. It seemed way to "perfect" to be an accident:

1. The code comes out on a FRIDAY night - just before a weekend
2. The code works Friday night, Saturday night, and even for a bit in Sunday - giving people TONS of times to get whatever they want.
3. EA Origin, as well as the site stays up THE ENTIRE time
4. There is no comment from EA, and no measures are taken to stop it (turn off EA store, site, etc.). The code remains active for over 24 hours
5. It ONLY applies to older games. You can't use it to get a discount on new games/pre-orders - i.e. the games that still need to "pay for themselves".
6. The code is IDENTICAL for everyone everywhere - i.e. they aren't per-programmed "one-use" codes.

Honestly, there are only two options:
1. EA is insanely dumb (more dumb that ever expected), and actually did ALL of the above by complete accident
2. EA is a genius. They give away games that dont NEED to make money, create an online stir, and get people to go onto Origin.

Further more, its only digital games. Each game probably costs EA less than a cent to give out for free.

I didn't know this was an error.

I did my usual daily browsing at ozbargain and found a usual deal here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/81996
So decided to get some games for myself.

Thought it was just a normal promotional discount haha

Couldn't have said it better myself. I think the exact same thing.

This after over 24 hours and 1100 posts in another thread while it was actually happening. That's funny.
