Hey gotendbz1,

you are right, honestly i dont know why i have in my head that i should be at 1.3 or more for that, its probably because im using the TurboEvo software that came with AISuite. I will go to 1.25 for 4.6gzh or 4.4ghz and see my temps there. i would love to have it at 4.6ghz below 1.3 but the last time i did with TurboEvo it stopped recognizing my boot drive.

don't use software to OC, just set multi to 44 and vcore to 1.25 bios and go down from there. For 4.6ghz you might need over 1.3vcore thou.

Ivy chips get voltage hungery after 4.4ghz-4.5ghz. that why I run mines at 4.4, I need to jump to at least 1.28v to run it @ 4.5ghz and above.
Have no idea why that is but most 3770k are like that.

so would it be as easy as pressing the Clear Cmos button on the back of my board and starting with 44 multiplier and vcore to 1.25?

I can run 5.2ghz at about those temps. if you want more of an Overclock follow the De lidding guild in my sig thumb.gif

Also 95c is safe on a 3770k and remember the temps in Prime95 are gonna be Higher then anything else you do.. i can get 84 c in prime 95 but i have never broke 60c while gaming.

You may need 1.3V for 4.6, but many don't, it depends on your CPU. Look at this Ivy Bridge Overclocking Guide. It will help and was done on a Maximus board. It should help you a lot. Software overclocks always over volt the CPU.

@Essenbe- thanks man, i followed your guide and so far so good. I do have one question though, my pc always goes to sleep and i want to leave it on overnight for a stress test, is there any option in the bios that allows me to do it? i thought i saw it under your guide labeled "Internal PLL Overvoltage ► Enabled (Disabled if you want to keep Sleep Mode)" is that it?
That may work because it does affect sleep. I honestly don't know if it keeps the computer from going to sleep or will not allow it to wake up. If you press the start button and type sleep in the search box, you should see an entry of change when the computer sleeps. I have mine set to the monitor in - 1 hour, and put the computer to sleep - as never. Then you can go to the advanced power settings (link on that same page). See if that helps.

okay last night I set up 4.4ghz@1.235 vcore and it jumped to 1.24 during load. I ran prime95 for 2 hours and temps stood around 65-71 which is a major improvement, however, i fell as sleep and forgot to take a screenshot.
