I have bought 5 Seagate 3TB drives for the HTPC media sever I'm building. I know need to find a solid raid controller to set up RAID 5. My budget has changed recently when I found out how expensive raid controllers can be.
From what I've been told the most important part of selecting a raid controller for RAID 5 is to have decent amount of on board memory and I've been told that 500 MB should be enough. The media server will be running 24/7.
I'm most likely going to be using Windows 7 or OS X.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
