It would be kind of hard to find a vendor that would sell you a laptop with no OS, as most big manufacturers bundle it with the laptop and don't take any kinds of special orders. The only ones I could see doing this are the boutique vendors such as Maingear or Origin, but their laptops are on the high end side and they usually start around $1000+. The closest thing I've seen is the Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 which has an i7-3630QM, GT 650M, 8GB RAM, it's $800 including Windows 7 which is worth $100. But there is no way to get it without Windows for $700.

Yeah the Lenovo Y480 is your best bet. tongue.gif There's not much else out there that'll match it for the money, if anything.

I always check out this website before buying PC games - http://bestgaminglaptopreviews.net. It also has reviews about the best gaming laptops and a few other interesting posts. I don’t know if you like it but you can check it out and see. To answer your question my personal favourite is the HP Pavilion series because they are very cheap! Also you get good CPU,RAM,Graphic card and so on. For example the HP Pavilion dv7-7010us has 2.3 GHz A-Series Quad-Core Processor, 6 GB SDRAM, 750.0 GB HDD and 3GB graphic card . It costs just $700. I just got it from the above website by the way.
Good luck!

Y480 price dropped to $750, you can get another $10 off with student discount if you're in a uni... Again still comes with an OS but closer to your price range.
