Maybe it's better with a quad core though.
That's a shame frown.gif I'm surprised that major review sites haven't done something for this as I would assume that a lot of other people would be interested in doing this sort of thing.

That's great news, do you know if the S3 is the best thing for this? I'm open to suggestions of other phones if they can do it better.
Well, the note 2 is coming out if you are into LARGE screen.

It's a pretty awesome phone. I had one, really liked it. But I am one who doesn't pass up good deals. Consider the note2, since it will be here soon. At first I waslike "Eh, do I need anything bigger than a 4.8" screen"? But is very tempting, the original did not really catch my eye, but after using the SGS3, the physical home button is nice. Still getting used to the whole no physical keyboard on my phones tho.

Does that really surprise you from a cheap knock-off? Buy legit and it will work. The mhl for the note/other is only around 20$ I believe.
Unfortunately the SGS3, and maybe the note2. Have a different pin placement, which requires a newer/ more expensive (for meow), mhl adapter than the prior Sammy devices. The only downfall IMO, is that it does not have a micro-usb plug to keep it charged while running. But then the other official ones do not either. I am sure there will be an aftermarket one that will work almost flawless.

xda-developers is your friend. But honestly, with cheap generic crap you cannot expect much.

LOL? Is this like comparing $200 HDMI cables to $10 HDMI cables? It's not like a complicated piece of electronics. It takes a video signal, puts it into HDMI pins, and injects it with power. It's not like there is a CPU there actively converting stuff. If I bought a $20 adapter it wouldn't make a difference.

I've tried using a note 2 in a phone shop before and I felt like it was just a bit too big to carry around in my pocket. By better I was thinking in terms of processing power rather than screen size as I'm guessing the more you have the better the video will play. I've seen rumors that HTC is launching their One X+ phone later this month and since I've got until the beginning of December to make a decision I can wait to see how that does.

I had a quick look at that site but didn't really understand what I was meant to get from it, what were you suggesting?

The mhl adapter actually converts the signal, so if build quality is low this can/will affect output. I understand what you are saying as far as the comparison, but with most of these phone its makes a difference.
So in this case, it is NOT the same comparison. 720 output seems to be just fine with the non-OEM ones, but 1080p playback lacks.

You said you wanted reviews, and lots of people there do their own/xdatv also does some. You wanted reviews on the mhl adapters, and I remember seeing at least a thread or 2 there about people using specific ones and how well they worked.
