Any suggestions as to what might be wrong with my friend's PS3?

My friend's PS3 has something wrong with it and I was curious if you guys could make some suggestions for fixing it (on the cheap) or just give me an idea of what the problem is?

When he turns it on, the green light comes on, the fan comes on, everything seems good... Then the whole thing just shuts off... He tried replacing his PSU, getting new power cables, that didn't help, so any suggestions as to what else it might be?

It is a 2010 slim model...

Why not send it to Sony , its 100 to fix them i believe , I can understand wanting to DIY it , It sounds like etither Its an Overheating Issue , or Something Vital , I.E Mobo , ETC went dead.
