Crysis Performance Issues; My Quest to Play the Freakin' Game - Page 3

Crysis does perform much better on Intel CPUs (specifically i7s), but your cpu should be enough.

It's good that you upgraded. The 7850 can't max out Crysis at 60fps...and if you set AA to very high or download Ultra-High graphics mods, it'll bring the 7850 to its knees. Since you're doing from AMD to Nvidia, make sure you use "drivesweeper" to get rid of hidden GPU drivers in your registry.

Thanks for the advice. I won't need to clear out the hidden GPU drivers though because I'll be installing Windows 8 RTM after putting the new card in. I reinstall my operating system every month anyways.

Card still hasn't arrived, but it will today.

OMG! So I just tried running it in 32bit mode and I am getting like 4x the frame rate. Why is 64bit running so bad for me?

I am doing like 130fps, with 2xMSAA at 2560x1440. That's what it should be running at... not at 22fps like it does in 64bit.

Well I got the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti in my rig, and installed Windows 8 RTM. Gave Crysis a test run, and...drum.gif

It's a lot better, but still not perfect. My FPS remains smooth most of the time. The parts where it would stutter before still show dips, but they aren't nearly as bad now. I've accepted the fact that Crysis is just a very unoptimized game. It's really a shame because this game is better than newer games in my opinion. There really aren't others like it.

Eventually, I'll add a 2nd one of these cards for Sli, then I'm sure that it will all be perfect. Until then, my current framerate (and dips jealoussmiley.gif) will do just fine.

Thanks for your lovely suggestions. I can enjoy this game now.
