Lookin good.

Might I ask: Why the DF85? You could save some money by going with the Phantom 410 from NZXT

Because I've read good reviews about the DF85. Looks awesome, plenty of space in case I ever decide to Crossfire in the future. Great airflow too.

I'm guessing you're one of the people who likes "gaming" cases.

Give the Cooler Master HAF XM and HAF 922 a look. The DF is obsolete imo

I'm not trying to be confrontational--I'm just pointing out that there are good reasons for owning one or the other.
That aside, I would second hitting up one of those 256gb samsung 830's for $160 at newegg. That is a steal, and the 830 is a monster among monsters. Mine is bottlenecked to hell by sata II but it still makes a world of difference in how snappy the system feels.

Are you going to regurgitate the same garbage any Corsair HXX user fanboy throws out.

They don't flex your motherboard, period.

H100's are loud, and a cheaper much quieter D14 performs the same.

I don't care about how convenient or safe you prop it up to be.

Facts are It can leak, it is more expensive, has a worse price/performance ratio.

When was the last time you saw a thread of a D14 breaking a motherboard, or it leaking liquid from the heatpipes, oh wait.

Couple of comments:

3570K vs 2500K and IB hotter than SB in general...
  • IB is hotter than SB...it does not overheat
  • IB is also faster clock for clock
  • IB is not as good as an EXTREME overclocker, it overclocks just fine. It cannot normally do 5GHz, but neither do all but the best SBs. For relatively mild OC @ 1GHz +/- a few 100s it will do just fine - probably with less Vcore, less power draw (aka less real heat generated) and still faster clock for clock...will it run hotter? Probably. Will it be unstable etc - not if you do it right. It will be hotter and faster.
  • After a point, ppl are nitpicking BS...if it is "better" at something you won't be doing, is almost irrelevant: aka bying a commute car that you will never get off a freeway, yet choosing it based on your buddies track experience...it is apple and oranges. 3570K has only advantages vs. a 2500K at everything but extreme O/Cs - given you are lucky with your SB, and even then we are talking what? Toping single digit % adv. when the 3570K has 10% adv clock for clock up to 4.7-4.8GHz?...sure, great game changing point. Same % will be favoring PCIe 3.0 and the IB when you add 2-3 7870s and run crazy resolutions...who can live without that?

Would the OP care to share with us why he's set on going with the 2500K?

There's absolutely no reason to choose a 2500K over a 3570K, unless you wanna spend an extra $30 to wave your e-peen around over a 5.1 OC that doesn't actually show any performance advantage over a 4.8 Ivy OC. And has already been stated, getting that large of an OC is totally a crapshoot anyways. Plus, it's not gonna be possible with the cooler he's now switched to.

This also seems to be a poor choice of MB & CPU (assuming the 2500K) combo to me. Without a CPU that supports PCIe 3.0, or super fast RAM, the UD3H seems like overkill. What does this board offer than the UD3H doesn't, when considering the other components in this build?

The case also seems to be way overkill for this build (besides looking just about as much "designed by a 14-year-old" as is possible). Nine 3.5" bays for a system that's gonna have one? On top of that, the cable management is limited plus that huge drive rack is one piece and seemingly non-removable (without getting out the Dremel tool). There are any number of less expensive cases that offer good airflow, better cable management, and are nearly as gaudy looking. Zalman Z11. MSI Interceptor. Antec Nine Hundred Two. Corsair Carbide.

Personally, I'd get a 3570K from Microcenter saving $30 and the UD3H (or equivalent MSI or ASRock or something) which would save an additional $40ish. (Plus another $50 if you're close enough to a Microcenter to go and buy the combo instore.) I'd put it in a quality mid-tower, which would probably save another $30 - $50.

Either pocket the savings or spend it on more power supply. The 650 Gold should be enough, but I'd like a little extra headroom if you're really considering Crossfired 7970's in the future. Hell, take the $100+ saved and put it towards that second 7970. Already 1/4 of the way there.

Also, to reference the initial post, if this system is really being built for livestreaming, the entire thing is overkill.
