Synapse implementation for 3G and 3.5G is nothing more than a hold over for this upcoming DA.
Someone had a new DA which windows recognizes it as "DeathAdder 2013". There are some cosmetic changes on the outside, as well as the added DPI buttons. From the inside, it uses the same omron microswitches as all Razer products for the left and right buttons, and the Avago S3988 sensor (as some of you have guessed)

The driver of DA:BE recognizes the mouse, but settings could not be saved.

It is a Chinese forum post btw. Pictures are there for you to see though, and Google translate should help~ The writer suspects that it is some engineer samples received by the shop.

Since internals have been leaked to the web, I guess I'll comment :>

-Custom Avago design for Razer. S3988 branding.
-Move from Cypress gen 3 to a Freescale micro controller. Not sure on model due to poor picture.
-Switches placed on main board. Has an LED daughter board. (Never saw that before).
-ID modified and redesigned. Poly carbon> ABS plastic. Looks re-enforced. Won't attract fingerprints, should feel "higher quality".
-Likely close to 100g in weight. (Just an educated guess on my part).

I was hoping there would be a left hand version, but it don't look good due to RH PCB/EE design.

You're a wizard, Harry.

Any difference between Cypress and Freescale?
Requires different skills and knowledge of MCU. Between the two, performance might be better on the upcoming model assuming proper configuration of firmware. Firmware quality itself is more important than a faster model.

How does the 3988 compare to the current DeathAdder? (assuming a good implementation)
Typically, I have a DeathAdder Black Edition due to arrive today. (decided I was fed up waiting, and didn't want to deal with Synapse)

The mouse hasn't even been announced. You're going to have to wait until feedback is generated after release.
