My bad, the US site for Element14 is http://www.newark.com/
Maybe they're of more use to you xP

Edit: Still seems to just be pre-order / registering interest. A stage I went through months ago... Aside from the official retailers, I guess you could shop around various sites, although I can't vouch for any ^^'

Edit2: I tried redface.gif

There's a blog post about this from one of the project leads. They have been upfront and open about this topic.

Being small is a side-effect of being inexpensive. The smaller PCB with fewer layers helped to reduce cost. They posted a blog about it.

Would it be possible to simply add more RAM or a higher capacity module in place of the existing one(s)?

Did you read the article? Have you looked at a Pi?

There is no RAM slot. Yes it could be changed but it wouldn't be something an end user would do. The ram is a shared resource between the GPU and CPU and is on package. Your not changing it biggrin.gif

You don't need the UEFI for Windows 8. You can install it on traditional BIOS. You just can't have that safe boot thing. Or can you? I am a little out of the loop on that...however, I know you don't need it to install Windows 8. Otherwise 90%+ of the computers on the market couldn't use it.
