Thanks everyone smile.gif

Looks like it's 2 x MSI Lightnings then with 2 x EKFC7970 full cover blocks. Cheaper all round and better performance by the sounds of it. Appreciate all your feedback. thumb.gif

Oh!

One thing, do I need to purchase any water block links/bridges for these particular waterblocks? I know with EVGA blocks you need something like this: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=M020-00-000240 but do I need it for EK-FC7970 full cover blocks? I had my heart set on Bitspower crystal links/d-plugs as I like the look of them. I should probably add that these cards will be going into a Rampage IV Extreme into slots 1 + 3.

Are you referring to a connector that comes with the blocks or one I must purchase separately? I'm new to this game so sorry for all the questions.

SLI 680 Lightnings for $500 a piece overclocked to 1300MHz+/1700MHz+ via software overvolting will pretty much annihilate any other SLI or CFX competition thumb.gif

7970's overclocked to 1.3Ghz will crap over the GTX 680's.

Overclocked there's just no comparison, the 7970 trumph the 680.

And software overvolting is no disabled in afterburner, you are forced to install an old version.

Say what? http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/07/30/msi_geforce_gtx_680_lightning_overclocking_redux/5

We're not talking ordinary 680s here. Do your research friend thumb.gif

Comparing a ridiculously overclocked GTX 680 to a moderate 7970... amazing work there.

There's enough threads in this very forum that show that when both are overclocked to the max the 7970 is the better card.

And atleast AMD allow voltage control on there cards, unlike Nvidia.

And it's even funny that even with a 150Mhz core advantage the GTX 680 only managed an extra 2fps over the 7970 in a few games.

It's common fact that the higher up you go the more the 7900 series pull a head, Kepler is by all account a card built for 1080p. Any higher ad it's AMD time...
