Commencing with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the Elite platform will offer all online services at no extra cost.
A range of additional game content will now be available through a Black Ops 2 DLC 'season pass'. Priced at 4000 Microsoft Points (about $50), It'll offer four map packs featuring fresh multiplayer and Zombies content.

The four DLC packages will be released across 2013, Activision said, and each can be acquired separately for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). The company warned that the Season Pass and DLC "may not be available on all gaming platforms". No further pricing was revealed.

At first I thought they were heading in the right direction.

Then I saw four maps and zombies for $50. The sad thing about that is millions of people will pay the $50 for 4 maps and zombies.

It's four map packs for $50, not four maps and a zombies map... Their map packs are usually 4-5 maps each. 16-20 maps is a much better deal than 5 biggrin.gif

I'm not a CoD player myself for years now, but, for the number of hours most of those people get out of that $50, how can you argue that it isn't money well spent? People spend $50 all the time on a single meal or in 5 minutes at a bar. Many will get a year's worth of enjoyment out of it.

It's mostly disdain amongst people who aren't able to afford $50 on a meal, or at the bar, I imagine. There are plenty of people who only have $50 to spare after two weeks because of this economy. Plenty more who are in debt up to their eyeballs.
DLC's are nice and all, but once they're released it becomes harder to find servers that you aren't excluded from, and even harder to play competitively (with friends, etc.)

doh.gif Didn't see the "packs" at first. Still overpriced IMO

That's a good argument but it doesn't change my opinion that they are overpriced. I say $20 max for the 16-20 maps you get. I would rather spend the $50 on some indie games that will give me a lot of entrainment over doing the same thing over and over again.

map packs wink.gif

Woah.. talk about a late reply tongue.gif
Probs a good move for activision. Saves them alienating a few customers.
Considering how much there making off cod I was surprised they didn't offer this stuff for free anyways. Now, I wander when EA will let people have premium for free... hmmm

Why am I not surprised any more with anything to do with CoD.I never brought any map packs, none of them were ever included in competitive gaming (for me at least). SO I never had the need for them.
