Steelseries Sensei Mousefeet

I might have obsessive compulsive disorder.

I have two mice. One is the SS. Kana and the other is the SS. Sensei. The kana feet (the extra 3M mouse feet they send with the mouse.. not the stock ones) have the best glide I have ever felt on a mouse. And I kinda like it.

The sensei has better weight and feel to the mouse itself. But just today though.. while i was using the sensei, there's like a sharp edge or a small dust particle on the bottom of the mouse that I could not, for the love of god, find out where on the bottom!

I have been sitting for 8 hours, wiping down the bottom of the mouse with a cloth, i have also tried running my nails on the edges of the mouse feet.

The feeling is like there is a small "stone" caught in between the mouse and the pad (i am using a razer sphex btw that is why i really feel it) And I know it is not the mouse pad because the kana glides fine!

I have 2 questions.

1. I have a spare set of kana mouse feet - will it fit the sensei? I know they are smaller but i tried to measure the SHAPE difference using the old kana set I have and it seems that even if the feet are smaller, it will still fit within the grooves of the sensei.

2. Where can I buy mouse feet? Is it cheap to order them online internationally? I live in the philippines and i don't see mousefeet in stores.

Help me please! This is going to drive me insane!!!! It is like having a very tiny piece of food in between your teeth that you could not take out!

I had the same problem, the feet was worn down. Bought a pair of Puretrak HD and problem is solved. You can buy new feets from the steelseries shop though.

I kinda don't trust puretrak yet... i am SOOO tempted to buy it. But I have read some reviews that puretrak has thin feet...

If I may ask you, is the puretrak feet the same thickness as the stock? I really like the "feel" of the 3M replacement ones for the SS Kana... its like it has their own cushion.

The replacement feet are just teflon feet, nothing special about them. You can get cheap feet from hotline games, takasta sells them on his ebay page (search takasta ebay mousefeet) for comparatively cheap, which should be the same as your replacement feet from steelseries. Puretrak feet are thicker, IIRC 1.2 mm whereas most common feet are 0.5mm.

Aside from thickness, what is the difference between puretrak perfect glide from the puretrak HD?

I personally don't like it too thick nor too thin. Just right is just fine. I don't mind if it is too high... but i have read reviews on the puretrak HD that they "scrape" the surface of the mousepad.... and that is exactly what I am avoiding.

The regular teflon pads supplied with the kana .. no matter how regular they are - i like them.. soft glidy glidy almost like mouse riding on air nothing fancy... (plus its free! lol)

Regular puretrak skates are a blend of plastic and teflon, to give a slower glide. HD are pure teflon. The accounts of scraping with the surface is probably due to the non-curved edges of the mouse feet. They're really the same as any other brand apart from Hyperglide who manufacture feet with curved edges. I've only used hotline skates as of late (they're much cheaper than alternatives), are the same thing (aside from hyperglide), and suit the job well (my deathadder skates are sublime, and so are my hurricane G400 feet).

The HD glides are supposedly made of pure teflon while the non-HD skates are a blend which is why they're considered to be "slower". My experience with HD glides was not positive in the least, the skates are supposed to "break in" after a short period of time but after a week of use on multiple mouse pads, hard and soft, the feet were still scraping on all of my cloth pads and even tore my Goliathus Speed. I also tried rounding the edges with my nails, still didn't do much and I ended up returning to my preferred Hyperglides. YMMV of course.

edit: How are the hurricane feet? The concept looks kind of similar to that of using textured mouse pads for more "speed".

In that case I will be expecting a bad experience from my purchase. I am trying to avoid scraping of any sort. The main reason I am looking for mouse feet is that for some reason, the feet or SOMETHING underneath my mouse is scraping the surface I am using.

I am using a razer sphex btw... (which if I am not mistaken is made of some form of textured teflon or some slippery plastic) and without any cushion or padding of any sort I can feel almost ANYTHING that comes in between the bottom of the mouse and the surface. And you know how things are amplified ... i feel there is a small pebble in between right now and i absolutely HATE it.

I am going to try out the puretrak HD as I have no choice and already purchased it, but if it scrapes.. or scratches I will have to look for other stuff.

I am not into 'control' types of surfaces... my preference is the less friction the better. The more glide, the better for me. If it can be as close to zero friction I'd prefer it. No scraping noise, no vibration whatsoever. I like to control the mouse with as close reaction time as I control my hand ; as less resistance as possible is good for me.

.... one more thing when it comes to breaking in the mouse feet... can i use anything else aside from a fingernail? Now that you guys mentioned it, the kana replacement feet do have, by default, rounded edges. Piece of plastic maybe? Lego? What can I use that would be more 'even' but would still work the same way as a fingernail.

Exactly that. To illustrate it abit better, my regular teflon feet glide smoothly on my hayate, but with the hurricane feet, it feels much more 'scratchy', i.e you get to feel the texture of the actual mousepad. Really fast as well.
