Tips on what lens I should get - Page 3

24-105mm f4 L

was one of my first L lenses and I learned quite a bit on it.

I would go used. 90% of my lenses have been used...and 75% of them time I resell them months/years later for the around the same amount.

let me throw out another option... as I think many of us have to put into perspective you are on a T2i and on the learning curve.

Look at a 50mm 1.8. It should be around $140USD or sub $100USD used. It is a great lens to learn fixed aperture photography and will provide you a nice 1.8 aperture to play with.

That was actually my first lens after the stock kit lens.

24-105 is problematic on crop cameras. Too slow, not wide enough and not long enough. IS is a plus, but not enough to make it worthwhile for anything but a full-frame body.

This.

If you have the cash 70-200/2.8L IS mk1, if not the 70-200/4L IS. But even the cheaper f4 IS still isnt "cheap".....

Personally I would save up and get the 2.8IS since its fairly well priced used, and is a very versatile lens.
