Acrilyc custom case

Thread Starter
I want to do a custom, simple acrilyc computer case, but I need some advice, is there anyone who has already done something like this who would help me in this project...

I've already have the measures for the atx motherboard, and some measures of the backplate, I still don't know how to leave the gap for cable management, and how to make the pci-e slots fit with those on vga's....

Is there any problems with the grounds on the motherboard, using just standard mobo standoffs attached to the acrilyc? does it needs to be grounded to a metal surface?

Also, i guess with some good fans and so, there must be none heat problems with my case... right?

No, i haven't done a acrylic case before...but i might be able to give you some useful information.

You should run a small wire between the power supply case (chassis ground) and your motherboard standoffs, you hard drives, ect. Basically everything that is screwed in place. This is not absolutely necessary (your stuff will work without doing this), but it is a "best practice". It will protect your electronic devices from static, floating grounds, RF noise, ect. If you google "chassis ground" a bunch of good articles will come up.

Fan placement is very important. Tomshardware did a in-depth study on "best practices" for air cooling, you can read about it here (it is a 2 part article) --> http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cooling-airflow-heatsink,3053.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cooling-air-pressure-heatsink,3058.html

As for making the Acrylic case, here are the "sticked" case mod threads, their is a TON of good stuff in here -- > http://www.overclock.net/t/226741/the-modders-manual-essential-case-mod-resources/0_50
