I'm getting bored of the standard, plain old Corsair 500R, so I'm going to mod it..
Plans:

Remove mesh side panel -> replace with darkened acrylic
Pain top mesh, thumb screws, and I/O covers gold

Eventually get a proper water cooling loop set up with gold sleeving over the tubes.

As many of you know, I'm not one for tying in my build logs, I let the pictures do the talking for me.

The case as it stands:

I'll be uploading some of the pictures from the acrylic side panel when I find my camera...

Work log:
Acrylic window goes in
Top mesh gets painted
Front mesh gets painted, as well as rear I/O covers
Drive holders, and tool-less clips get painted

Found my camera, so here we go, got the acrylic window in:

There is still a bit of work to be done to the acrylic, but for the most part it's in and done.

The first parts of the mesh are just being primed, so stay tuned for more updates!

Looks like it'l be sweet. The 500R is a great case, but I agree with you when you say it looks a little bland (I own one myself). I will keep a keen eye on this and see how it turns out

Subbed, I actually like the minimalistic look of the 500r but I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with it. A black acrylic is what I plan to use in my own 500r whenever I get around to it, looks good so far

I found out the other day that some monkey, probably me, put the silver spray paint can lid on the gold, and gold on the silver, so I ended up painting it silver, and so I had to let the silver dry, before i put the gold on, but the gold turned out really nice, I think at least...

Disregard my chicken legs...

Let me know what you think of it so far, keeping in mind the acrylic isn't finished yet.
and if I should do the front mesh gold as well, or not?

Got the time to take the front panel completely apart, and paint it up!

And now, better pictures, from my camera, not phone!

I have remaining:
- Finishing of the acrylic
- painting drive trays
- figuring out how to take the tool less 5.25" bay clip things off and clip them.
