Since I never use more than 5 gigs of ram anyway, really, it's just using space that wouldn't have been used for anything anyway. I have noticed a 4 to 6 minute increase in my nero vision conversion and burn times on movies and a increase in loading times for basic programs using it that way. Just make sure when you run RAMDISK that you use fat 32 instead of 16 and set aside at least 2 to gigs for it up to a max of 4 gigs. (6 igs if you have actual AMD memory). Then as soon as you're done windows will ask you if you want to use it to speed up your system.

So that would be like a Cache then thumb.gif

FancyCache all the way, been using it for months now, works great with games, you will notice games reload levels much quicker.
The best thing about FancyCache is the way it can prolong the life of your SSD through using a deferred write cache, i usually get something like 70-90% of all writes deferred so less is wrote to the SSD.

Its very versatile as well, you can choose to use Ram, Flash media or SSD to store a cache to speed up your system.

As ram is getting cheaper and cheaper im becoming more interested in using ram disks. the most amazing thing ive done so far was create a 2GB partition. mounted a Starcraft1 iso to the partition and installed it to the same partition. this was on DDR2-1100.

Install time was ~1 sec.
game boot and load times were <1 sec.

Thread Starter
That's pretty dang fast loading times. I am still looking for a deal on 4 8 gig sticks of dominator 2133 or hyper-x 2133 to be able to make a 40 gig ramdisk to be used as a hybrid SSD type caching drive. Will post the numbers after get it done, but I do believe that 40 gig should be one heck of a wallop!
