Monitor suddenly goes black but power is still on

First off I apologize if i posted on the wrong thread...

So yeah like the topic title says my monitor suddenly turns black while the power is still on. I'm just using the on-board graphics (intel hd 2000) that is embedded on this computer.
Full specs of my computer is on my signature. This problem just started today... also this computer is fairly new... just 7 months old. Is it possible that the monitor is failing? I've checked the temps of my computer and all are running fine. Overclocking is also not possible on this computer since this is just a budget type pc.

I suggest taking the monitor to a friends house and hook it up to his computer. Also, you can try using a videocard to see if that helps.

How old is your monitor anyways?

Hmm.. I'll probably try that on the following days. Thanks. But can you or anyone suggest any more solutions? I don't think the driver is the problem though. I'm using the latest generic intel hd drivers (8.15.10.2778)

What connector you use.hdmi.vga.?is it a hdtv?did you make sure to enable proper connector. (Probably named input on remote.)

Your backlight could be failing. Take a flashlight up to the screen (you will have to get pretty close) when it goes black and see if you can still see your desktop/game.

Just the included vga one. Not really using an hdtv hmm.. it's more like a standard lcd monitor that can display 1080p outputs.

Thanks. Ill try this one. And if the backlit is the problem i'll try to call the service center.

EDIT:

Just tried it and I don't see anything. Just plain black. But what's more weird is the moment i move my mouse or press any key on the keyboard the monitor powers up.

Look under your control panel >>> power settings. It sounds like you just need to increase your timer on the monitor power off or screen saver (currently set as blank screen perhaps?).
