Overclocking suggestions/help

Hello, I've recently bought a new CPU cooler due to my old Aywun RADI V10 Black edition being way too big. So I got something more compact but makes my CPU a lot cooler. I got a Corsair Hydro Series H80. So far my temps are amazing, highest temp in my computer is the HDD which is at 31, the CPU is at a steady 9-12 degrees Celsius. I want to overclock my CPU it's an AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.2GHz, but I want to increase that because I use my CPU heavily during 3D studio max renders and such. I reach 4.0GHz but it's unstable I think because I only change the frequency, so I want to start increasing voltages and what not to reach a bit higher say roughly 4.0-4.5GHz. So what I'm asking is what is the safest but best way to increase? My full specs are listed below.
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.2GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA990FXA-UD5
RAM: G.Skill F3-12800CL10-8GBXL x2 16Gb Total
GPU: Gigabyte GTX550Ti OC 1Gb
Case: Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced Edition
Cooling:
-CPU: Corsair Hydro Series H80
-GPU: Stock 100mm fan
-Radiator Fan: 120mm top mounted
-Top: 120mm intake
-Front: 140mm intake
-Side: 2x120mm intakes
-Bottom: 2x120mm intakes
-Rear: 120mm exhaust
PSU: Seasonic 520W Modular (And no I have no power issues at all)

Temps:
GPU: 26C
Temp1: 27C
Temp2: 21C
Temp3: 19C
HD1: 25C
HD0: 26C
HD2(External): 32C
Core: 10C

So I think the temps are quite low enough to overclock heavily, so what would be the best way?

Those are some mighty low temps. I'm thinking its a bug because unless you live in an igloo, temps can never go below ambient tongue.gif

Anyway, this should help - http://www.overclock.net/t/777378/official-gappos-little-deneb-thuban-overclocking-guide-with-too-many-smileys

EDIT: Don't go by core temps, they're inaccurate below 45c. Your actual chip temp is 27c.

Ah. Well even still haha, but yeah the air coming out of the back is extremely cold. I'll have a look at the thing and give it a try, thanks. smile.gif

That is for different CPU's unfortunately, mines a Propus core, not a Thuban or Deneb.

Yours is just a Phenom II by name.

The 840 is essentially an Athlon (Propus). True Phenoms are only Deneb/Thuban.
