AT&T has announced the release date for its LG Optimus G phablet. It will be available starting November 2 and will be the first quad-core 4G LTE smartphone on the network.

The LG Optimus G will be priced at $199.99 with a two-year contract and come with special LG phablet software for note taking and sharing screens. It will also be launched by Sprint and may come in the form of the Nexus 4 from Verizon Wireless

Features of the LG Optimus G include a high-density 2,100mAh battery, 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus touchscreen, 1.5GHz quad-core CPU processor, 32GB of internal storage, 8/13MB camera, microSD slot, Bluetooth, GPS, DLNA, and NFC. The Android OS is enhanced with the LG UX (User Experience). The LG Optimus G will launched with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and updated to Jelly Bean in the future.

At least they are calling it a phablet now. I think the SG3 is too big, and this looks to be about the same size. I am curious to see the IPS display though. If the physical phone isn't too big, I will very likely consider this as my next phone...

Is the LG Nexus 4 the same as the Optimus G? I read somewhere that LG Optimus G will be called LG Nexus 4 so I don't know.

From what I understand, is that both will exist. I have read that as well, and from all the articles I am following, it seems that they will indeed both coexist.
I read an article yesterday from an European site that said the Nexus 4 was NOT going to have an SD slot nor LTE....
I don't know that site so I am not going to say that is how it will be for sure, in any market.

I would be shocked if this phone doesn't have LTE so I am inclined not to believe that article atm.

They have to be 2 separate phones. Google would not release a Nexus phone without the very latest version of android running on it. While I'm guessing the hardware between the two will be very similar this is not a nexus phone.

What are the chances that the LG Nexus 4 will be on AT&T?

I have the same question. One thing I do know, is that the Optimus G is now available for preorder on AT&T.

Funny though, it lists the camera as being 8mp as apposed to 13mp on all the other pre-release info out there. I really hope that the 8mp is a typo on AT&T's website.

AT&T's version will have an 8MP camera while the Sprint's one will have the 13MP. I remember reading it somewhere. I will wait a bit and see how many people on XDA get this phone before I get it. I'm more concerned about software development. Looks like it will come with 32GB of storage total. That's nice!

Ah, thanks for the info. I hadn't heard that. Shame too, as the camera is one of the biggest parts of the phone that appealed to me.
Software support is huge for me now, after getting crapped on by Moto. I am hoping that the Nexus 4 is aggressive with the specs too, as the support for a nexus device is usually top notch.

Personally, I think that Google should mandate a 2 year software OS support for all Android phones. That is one of the major advantages Apple has with the iphone. You know you will get the next OS with those phones...
