Well the matrix 7970 needed a firmware update, maybe they had a really early sample card or something. Or just bad luck you never know.
i owned both 7970 matrix and lightning and both would be a good option for the threadstarter

How were you able to get a hold of the Matrix? It was just launched...

Hello the msi radeon 7970 lightning makes a diffrence if you are into overclocking because it is fully unlocked and you can push the limits farther than a refrence 7970.
