New card - Nvidia 660 vs 660 ti ?

Thread Starter
I've recently build a new PC with these parts:

CPU: Intel i7 3770k
COOLER: Thermalright Archon rev.A
MB : Asus P8Z77-V PRO
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2X4GB) 1600MHz CL8
SSD: Samsung 830 Series 256 GB SATA III
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB SATA II
SOUND: Asus Xonar DG
PSU: Corsair HX750W
CASE: CoolerMaster CM 690 II ADVANCED
MONITOR: Samsung S23B350H 23¨ LED
OS: Windows 7 64bit Pro

I've been using the integrated graphics intel 4000 HD for some old (2001-2004) games I have but
I want to be able to play some new games like Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and Shogun 2 total War.

My questions are:
1. Should I buy an nvidia 660 or an 660 ti? (I prefer Asus and MSI between manufacturers)
2 .Should I buy one now or wait some months (playing my old games) for prices to go down?

I want a card that will be able to handle new games for at least 3 years from now (with no SLIs).

Yeah, ti is your best bet.

A GTX680 would not future prof your system, nothing will future prof your system. The GTX660 is the best bang for the buck, the TI is overpriced compared to it.

the 660Ti is around 300$ while the 660 is 220$. The difference in performance @ your resolution doens't account for the big price gap.
For the same money as the Ti and something far better, get the 7950....
MSI 7950:

Get a 7950.

In the realm of Nvidia:
Bang for buck-wise: 660
Future proof wise: 670 (or 680, but I still don't like that price hike for that small a gain over the 670)

Obviously 660Ti is the middleground.

Thnx for your recommendations!

I don't trust amd. I might be wrong but I think of their cards as
huge overpowered guys (great specs) without brains (driver issues).
Thats why I prefer nviida.

I think I'll get a 660 ti because of balance between
cost (660) and future-proof (670).

But its price is still too high and maybe I should wait for prices to go down (270 - 290$).
I wish I knew when AMD would release new cards, it may help prices to drop.
