$1200 Monitor Budget

Thread Starter
Looking at doing a 2 or 3 monitor setup. What's the best setup for a $1200 budget? Looking at the overlord 27" IPS OC, a few ASUS monitors, a few samsungs. I'd like the monitors to be VESA compatible. Also should I go TN or IPS? Is IPS ghosting that noticeable? I want at least 120hz & if I go TN then 2ms or less.

Normally I would say grab 3 Crossover 1440p monitors but they are 60hz and 6ms.

Perhaps look into the overlords. I am not sure all of them are 120hz but i might be wrong.

But in all honesty if you are to purchase new monitors in this era, go 1440p if you can.

They have OC IPS screens for overlord. They are safe at 96 hz. I don't mind going 60hz with an IPS monitor, but minimum of 120hz for a TN monitor dedinately.

Also hows the warranty on those korean jewels?

Overlord only offers a one year warranty.
You could take a look at 3 x Eizo Foris FS2333. They are IPS displays, resolution of 1920 x 1080 on 23", 5 year warranty, VESA mounting holes, 3.4 ms grey-to-grey and almost no input lag.

The Korean monitors also have 1 year warranty as far as I know.

Overlord is sold in USA though right? It could be a smoother transaction.

That's why I was leaning towards Overlord. I spoke to them on the phone the other day & felt confident with them. It's basically between them or a big company like Asus or Samsung who offer better warranties, but are more expensive.

Well Asus and Dell also have 1440p panels but they are like $700 each

I never used an Overlord IPS panel but I am sure they are at least as good as the Korean Monitors.

If i were you i would grab 3 of these Overlords.

If I were living in USA I would go with the Overlord option to be honest, not the Korean ones.

I think Overlord uses the same panel as the Korean monitors. Don't quote me on this.

I have a pair of Overlord Tempest X270 OC preordered. From what I'm told, they estimate shipping in November, no exact date. If you're able to wait, you can have the best of both worlds 1440p and 120hz (depending if you can tinker with your GPU to hit 120hz.)

If I had to choose between IPS or TN, I would go with IPS.

I currently have an 1920x1200 IPS panel since I only play MMOs and wanted amazing color reproduction over 120hz which is mainly for 3D gaming and shooters. But now with the Overlord OC, I can try gaming at 2560 x 1440, on an IPS panel AND at 90~120hz. I think I will blown away.
