First timer needs a helping hand! - Page 13

yeah I have reduced the warning temp and will change that other setting, but essentially at the moment it heats up real quick, almost immediately on prime95 and goes over safe temp eventually on 3d mark. All pretty frustrating really

I will have to take out cpu and re-apply paste, just to eliminate that issue, otherwise I am currently stumped

well i will def try that then although the vids I watched suggested a really thin layer spread over cpu with a credit card or similar

If you watch videos where they compare various methods by putting a piece of glass on so you can see how it spreads you'll notice if you spread by hand it makes huge air bubbles.

Just checking are you sure you returned the voltage to default?
I use a cross of TIM on CPU, not too much, let the heatsink spread it. If you are not sure and you have enough TIM. Try it and then lift cooler and check spread. Be carful not to get TIM everywhere.
Do you have the 4pin connector on your CPU fans, If yes set CPU fan control to PWM ( Pulse Width Modulated) this will then control the speed of the fan properly.

Cpu fan is 4 pin, case fans are 3 pin, I noticed that when I set to PWM, all manual control is lost for all fans in overdrive, not that I noticed much difference in fan speeds using it anyway! lol
