My Gig 7950 is still on 12.7 beta biggrin.gif but I would imagine at 1280/1800 with 12.11 beta, it would beat the 680 Lightning that I had at 1372/1771.

Which retailer are you buying from that lets you do returns? I'm lucky that i have a Memory Express not too far from me that does online price matching and accepts returns for 7 days.

I picked up a Gigabyte Windforce 7970 just now and the damned thing wont go past 1050mhz (its freaking voltage locked) - thinking of getting a Matrix (pricematching to $499) and pray it goes over 1250mhz, or just get a reference 7970 for $359 and probably get 1100/1600 with voltage tweaking

Ahh too bad. I have a Matrix 7970 that does 1250Mhz stable on stock voltage. It's going back to the store maybe.

I really wanted to try this card out and it past with flying colours. I just have no room for it right now. Especially since the gtx690 is running great.

If EK announced they were making a block for it in the next 24 hours, I'll keep it for sure!tongue.gif

i have a 7970 Vapor-X that does 1.2GHz @ 1.212v but after alot of testing it simply won't budge beyond 1.2GHz no matter the voltage , so i was thinking is it a smart move to actually try to sell it and get one of those new platinum GPUs ?

i haven't tested out in actual game play yet, but heaven 3.0 ran 1230/1750 for a long time and nothing was wrong. not sure how real game play is like especially like sleeping dogs. their benchmark software seems to lock up everything i tried, so many its just like furmark its just pushing heat?

either way i am happy with my purchase. even if i can't reach over 1250 mhz, it won't make too much of a difference in real life situations. just looking at the card through the case window just puts a smile on my face thumb.gif

I ONLY buy computer hardware from Newegg and/or Microcenter. Newegg has a 30 day return policy and Microcenter has a 15 day return policy. I'll sometimes get stuff off of Amazon but am picky because of the horde of sellers on that site that may complicate the return process.

As we've seen play out in the past, it doesn't matter what the brand, or label you are still at the mercy of the silicon lottery.
