Anti-cheat, when will they make one?

Thread Starter
So I've always wondered this since the day I discovered what a hacker was. Why is there no anti-cheat system that is almost impossible to get by? Is it current technological limitations? Funding? Or is it by nature never going to happen? Out of the 2 big ones VAC and PB which one is more effective? I remember when I played BF2 I heard many people say that PB was trash and that VAC was good at that time. I do remember seeing alot more hackers in BF2 than in CS though but then again there are good hackers out there that almost blend with everyone else. And that's another thing, those players who play public server and hack, but try so hard to hide their hacks, what is the point? I mean I kind of get the blatant hackers because they're pretty much trolling but the one who try and stay hidden? I never understood that group.

People want to feel like they're pro just barely fitting in with the people who are really good.

My theory.

Although I don't respect the hacks, I respect the skill of the hackers. It takes time, effort, and great knowledge of the code being run to come up with creative ideas to bypass the major anti-cheat systems.

Devs are lazy and/or not experienced enough, hence why you only see VAC or PB in most games. Which is more effective? Probably VAC, and it's definitely less problematic. The only games I know of with good anti-cheat are Crysis and Crysis Wars when they were still actively updated. They use PB, but Crytek developed their own anti-cheat methods as well, so it had two anti-cheat solutions. Of course Crytek's anti-cheat was horrible and I bypassed it easily, but it wasn't a bad effort, and more importantly, its modding community developed server side mods that had better anti-cheat than anything I've ever seen. Every time a new hack was released (even from longpoke, though his "retirement" helped tremendously), SSM was updated and trumped the hacks.

it just a numbers game a few devs can come up with something good say like maybe 50 of them come up with something now honestly how many people out there are trying to bypass it ? hunderds ? thousands ? tens of thousands maybe even millions

what 50 developers can do in a year a thousands hackers can do in a few hours at worst a few days

Might as well ask why there isn't an impervious anti-virus program or a drug that cures all diseases.
