There is a massive difference between a "hacker" and the person you see cheating in a video game. They paid for the hacks made by someone who knows what they are doing, they can press the on button, that deserves no respect. People who exploit programs to make profit at the expense of others don't deserve respect either.

Well, it's possible but not worth it. It wouldn't be just a script running on the backround but power hungry thing.

You have to understand what server sided vs client sided means. It's very easy to make hacks that are client sided (eg wallhacks) but extremely difficult to make server-sided hacks. An example of server sided hack is spawning gold in an mmorpg. Such a hack doesn't generally exist because all the information is being handled by the server, not your computer. A program claiming to spawn gold or items for you is usually a keylogger.

Because of this, there will never be a super anti-cheat to block it all. Some games have almost no hacks because the entire game is being handled by the server (eg: HoN)

They use PB, but Crytek developed their own anti-cheat methods as well, so it had two anti-cheat solutions. Of course Crytek's anti-cheat was horrible and I bypassed it easily, but it wasn't a bad effort, and more importantly, its modding community developed server side mods that had better anti-cheat than anything I've ever seen. Every time a new hack was released (even from longpoke, though his "retirement" helped tremendously), SSM was updated and trumped the hacks.

Vac is not really effective as an anti cheat. Their only advantage (HUGE) is that your steam account get banned from just about every games if you get caught.
