A few months ago I was in a minor car accident where someone drove directly into my rear passenger wheel, luckily noone was hurt. The repair shop decided to replace my rim so obviously ideas start popping in my head about what to do with it.
Put a tire on it and use it as a spare? Nah, already have a full size spare anyway. I'll turn it into a computer case!
The rim has no dents, just minor scuffs and scratches on it which I could probably refinish it a bit in the future.
Specs...
Processor: Intel Core i5-3450
Mobo: Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3
Video Card: Evga Nvidia GTX 560
Memory: 8GB PNY DDR3 1333MHz
PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular
On to the pics...
Rim (Sparco Assetto Gara 17")

Motherboard Base

Used some birch plywood and a router for the holes.

Popped a motherboard tray out of an old case, seems like I got real lucky on that since it was the correct size and every thing. Just had to paint it black and it was good to go.

Painted the wood with 2 coats of Minwax PolyShades Satin Black.

Finally put together after a 1.5 weeks of work on it.

PSU is pretty much just resting on a wooden shelf on the back. And yes, those are C-Clamps holding the board on to the rim, debating on drilling through the rim and securing with with some bolts. Not sure if that fan on the back helps at all but the lights from it make a nice background effect.
The final (for now) product.

Cut some of these LEDs up and wired them all together, connected it to 12V molex connection, then stuck them to the inside part of the spokes. I originally just put 1 30cm strip up on top of the inside of the rim but it looks much better with the lights on the inside of the spokes.
Hope you like my mod, feel free to give any comments or ideas.
