Digicial: have you tried the Indigo Xtreme TIM yet? It's a bit nerve wracking to install, but it takes the guesswork out of paste application. Since it's a phase-change metal in a container, it's just peel and stick, and then fry your CPU without cooling for a few minutes.
I considered it... however, my biggest problem with it is the cleanup and setup. I can't really run my CPU without cooling... unless I also run my GPUs and VRMs without cooling since it's all in one loop. So I'd have to do some crazy loop-switching operation to pull it off... and then I'd only really be able to expect a 2-3C drop over my PK-1 anyway. I think all of these exotic pastes are nice, and it's great to have a choice - but, at least with ivy, the huge difference is under the IHS... and CLU works great there and is acutally easy to clean off. Sucks between the IHS and the block though... tried that for the first and last time before this last rebuild.
If I 'recoup' a 10-15C value from the delid... I'm not going to be concerned with getting another 2-3C out of my top paste... especially since the PK-1 never hardens and is very, very easy to clean off and reapply if required. Now as far as the Indigo Xtreme Clean solution... I freakin' love
that stuff as far as TIM solvents are concerned... IMO it kicks the crap out of the Articlean solutions

I grabbed a 3770k too my OC was 4.8 @ 1.42v topping out in the high 75-80*C I put it in the non candidate for delidding but you might prove me wrong
Yeah I didn't ever stabilize 4.8GHz but it could have been done... I could boot into Windows fine at firstname.lastname@example.orgV but it was not prime stable (crashed after 16min at 91C hottest core)... at 4.7GHz I was stable at 1.38V and 86C hottest core (6 hours). It might have had problems going 24H though, but once I saw those temps - in a 9X120mm radiator loop... I knew I didn't need to bother going for a 24h run. I'm hoping that 4.8GHz at ~1.41V and ~75C should be doable after the delid... but I'll definitely be posting complete results here as well as in the delidded ivy club.
