Thanks! There will definitely be some more tweaking done - in fact, I'll be starting on that soon. The first thing that MUST be addressed is the colors (the orange on the Antec TrueSilent fans most of all - but probably some other treatments as well).

OK... There will be some updates in the next few weeks probably... just finishing up my home theater and doing the leak testing on my 'spare parts' workstation for the office. Had my MCP35X laying around along with some fittings, reservoir, etc... and so I thought why not put these things to use?

Then I picked up a dirt-cheap ASUS DirectCU II 7970 at Frys (seriously... it was a return, marked down to $250 with a $20 rebate). So I grabbed the block for it as well as a Raystorm and a 120mm and 240mm XT45 and away I went. Not doing a log of this, but I thought I'd post it here as a 'mini-log' just because:

So now that this little side venture is out of the way - I can get back to my main rig (although I might just wait until after the holidays just because I'm a little tired of working on PCs for the moment). tongue.gif

LOL... thanks. It's so funny... before my M8 I would have told you that this little Fractal Design R4 was a really great case... now, however, I found my self constantly saying "I spent 20% of the cost of an SM8... on this crap!?!?" biggrin.gif

But seriously it is a pretty nice case - but only if you compare it to normal cases in it's price range (I paid $95 for it). In many ways I like it better than my Corsair C70 it's replacing... in other ways not so much... but I give them thumb.gif for at least not putting fan mounts on the window... OMG I hate that crap - and everyone seems to do it now. I should have to mod a case to put a fan somewhere I couldn't before - not the other way around! mad.gif
post #246 of 273
Totally agree with you there. Anything on the window just ruins of and needs replacing IMO. My el cheapo CM Elite 430 was a pretty solid case (for a budget) other than the stupid fan grill on the window. I passed it off to a friend for a bit of money (actually think I made profit) then went ahead and grabbed a CM HAF-XB. Got to say I love the XB biggrin.gif

Thanks... yeah the new avatar is very appropriate - that's where more of my computer money has been going lately. biggrin.gif Now that we're in between 'gun control scares' things are starting to become cheaper and more readily available (especially ammo thankfully) so I'm back in 'acquisition mode' on that front. I'm currently on the lookout for a customized XD in pink to get for my wife - she's scared of the slide on a Glock, but her hands aren't really big enough for a 1911 frame... so XD seems like a good fit - but we'll see.

I hope to be able to start on my "light door" project for the M8 soon... maybe if anyone has done something like this they can hit me up with some suggestions:

I'm going to get a window sized piece of Acrylite EndLighten, edge polished, with 18-24 3mm LEDs evenly spaced on all 4 sides. Then put privacy film on the outside of it (so the mirror side faces inward). That way almost none of the light will come through the 'viewing side' but will instead be reflected back toward the motherboard etc. This should also reflect a portion of the light panel at the bottom back toward the MB as well.

I'm not 100% committed to doing this - since Darlene (IT Diva) is doing an infinity window design that's a similar concept - I'll probably let her do all the heavy lifting, see how it looks, and decide from there. Also with all the juicy hardline stuff coming out... I'm trying my best to avoid redoing everything with rigid acrylic for at least a year... but it's getting harder every day. biggrin.gif

Tiny update... not really worth mentioning but as I wanted to use my GPUs for mining again - and those XSPC blocks passively cool the VRM banks... I bit the bullet and upgraded (figured it would be a nice gift for them considering that they turned my electricity into money). smile.gif

Had this picture up in my current project (G5 mod) but it really belongs here.. when I get a chance I'll do a new pic of the interior... but I really need to re-do some cable management. biggrin.gif
