Welcome aboard!

Progress is being made slowly - mostly because my back paid a heavy price working on the light panel on the floor of the garage because of my work table collapsing. I spent some time tweaking the RGB settings on the light panel to match the LED output from the fans. In person it matches almost exactly, but in photos:

...Not so much. rolleyes.gif

You guys will just have to trust me on this... they match. Honest. biggrin.gif

Also finished unpacking and putting the heatsink on this:

and did some test fitting, which I think is going to become my final fitting due to how long I had to fight with it to get it in there... there's not enough room to fit a sheet of paper between the heatsink and the finger guards on the fans - but it does fit between them at least. thumbsupsmiley.png

I have sleeving for them and I planned on doing it; but since I'm putting it in the pedestal where it won't be seen at all, and the only visible part at all will be in the PSU side of the case (without a window) - I think I'll just zip-tie everything out of the way. It's possible that my OCD will get the better of me and I'll sleeve it after all... but at this point my OCD is giving up a great deal of ground to my impatience. biggrin.gif

Kudos for calling it as it is ... huh ? ... lol.

in the spirit of 'get r done', I applaud your efforts to keep OCD at bay. To tell the truth, what with sleeve binding and sleeving wires never to be seen, I feel a huge culture shift towards an oppressive need to BIND AND CONSTRICT all wiring. Driving me up the proverbial wall.

On another note, I gotta ask - did a quick search of the thread - is the name "brusier" an actual word ? or is it misspelled ? or is it french .... Here is the only thing I could find about brusier.

Thanks! Yeah, it doesn't look nearly as good from the bottom... bit kinda chunked a little where the ports were (no drill press... just two spare pieces of hardwood flooring for supports and me hunched over killing my back). But it will definitely do for now.

Thanks and welcome aboard. I forget which build-log you were posting in about 'sticking with it' and I totally agree. It's actually way easier to work with the Case Labs cases IMO - but in some ways the sheer number of options available makes it more difficult than trying to shoehorn much less gear into a 'normal' case. smile.gif

On another note, I gotta ask - did a quick search of the thread - is the name "brusier" an actual word ? or is it misspelled ? or is it french .... Here is the only thing I could find about brusier.
Code:

doh.gif Thanks for catching that - yep it must also be a French word because spell check had no problem with my misspelling of it! It's supposed to reference both a black and blue color scheme (aka a bruise) and be a big gaming beast. This is more the definition I was going for. biggrin.gif

And on that OCD note... well, this happened tonight after thinking about it for less than an hour or so after I got up:

Heatshrink pulled out of the 'saddle piece' of larger heatshrink... but that is definitely NOT getting fixed... I've already done more than I planned on. Used some gray MDPC sleeving I had around because I wanted it to be easier to find which Molex connections were for the pumps when I'm leak testing and I've got the case full of crap on the PSU side.

In other news, during my test fitting of the main body of the case on the pedestal and dealing with 4 tubing runs along with all of the fan & pump wiring... I've come to the decision that although it just barely fits... it will become problematic down the road to do pretty much anything in the pedestal if I run both rads as push-pull. So I'll be taking the inside fans off and running push only on both. It's not a big deal cooling wise (since I was at 3-5C deltas during normal gaming use without the extra XT45 I added) - but it will be a huge help during leak testing and connecting things to the light panel pass through ports, etc.. If I don't use them I could even disconnect the pump and pull it out while leaving the case attached... this seems like it would be totally worth it in the long run if I have even one leaky fitting in the basement - or (God forbid) a pump dies on me. biggrin.gif

So more work to be redone... on the up side however that also means that I can put 3 of the AP-13's up on the XT45 which will do a little better than the slow and leaky Antec LED fans (which to be honest are ONLY there for illumination as they don't move air for crap). It also means I'll have 3 AP-13s as spares which is good since they're no longer available. biggrin.gif

Good call on changing the push/pull config. That would have been a lot more possible future headache for very little gain. Especially if you're working with a 3-5C delta already, before adding the XT45! That's impressive cooling power already!

LOL... yeah and just looking at it gives me a headache. In reality, I don't even need the pedestal for 3X 360mm rads - but the whole point it to have something that not only runs cool and quiet - but something that (at least once it's finished) gives me close to zero downtime even if there are issues. I will definitely be building a 'trailer queen' at some time in the future that can take a year to finish and will have all of the bells and whistles integrated into it... but this needs to be very, very easy to work on. The secondary 'bonus' of taking out the inner fans is that I would have the possibility to actually put bay devices in the pedestal too - even an optical drive will fit without any issues whatsoever. Also I can take the bottom panel out, or remove the front flex bay, or get to all of the fittings from the back - without touching either of the rads. biggrin.gif To me that's win- win.

On a related note... I wouldn't be running my machine right now even if it were all put together... we hit 116F today for a high (it's almost 11pm now and it's still 104F outside)... tomorrow is supposed to get to 119F. So I'm pretty much just sleeping during the day - too hot to go anywhere, even for a few minutes. So I'm in full-on vampire mode for at least the next week or so... frown.gif

whaaa ??? no ac ? surely for in house pc building, ac in that hot weather is COOL enuf !

all this talk about ambient is makin me THUSTY ! So, seriously, I read up on a spaniard's ambient temps, and wonder why ... they put up with it, well, turns out Spaniards, by general rule, haven't quite got there where a/c is common. So they sweat with the - I'm guessing - window fans and whatnot. Being a midcoaster, we get the extremes, with humidity, but not like that scorching desert heat.

11pm and 104f ... EFF DAT !

Holy CHIT !! I just looked up your noaa infos, 114 to 117 for the next few days highs ?!?!

wow. Here's one thing, its currentyl 98f with 11% humidity, making for a heat index of 93. Hmm, that's still too WARM. at 2am. wow. CHILL and be chillaxin !

HAHA... Oh you can be sure I have AC and it's running like a champ. Actually, that's part of the reason I'm not in a rush to throw more heat and power-draw at my house currently. biggrin.gif

I'm sort of used to these temperatures (I'm a native) but still - we're breaking all kinds of records this year... usually we just have a day or two that spikes over 115F... this year we've had almost an entire week of those temps. mad.gif

I threw my 3770K on a test bench at work - thought I'd grab some lidded specs and then delid where I have room - and just build up with the delidded chip in my build from the get-go... well, I'm not going to bother, because this chip seems like a winner! (Not 'golden' necessarily - but good enough for my setup and needs).

Here is what it came out to after 3hrs of Prime95 for loading and then idling again for about 10 minutes... This is with very crappy TIM (XSPC K2) and a single mounting of an old Sycthe Ninja (or Katana... dunno) air cooler in a 73F office.

Have to ignore the low core temp on that one core right off the bat... don't think I'm getting sub-ambient core temps on air cooling. biggrin.gif

Note the idle Vcore. biggrin.gif

Couldn't really OC anything since it's on a little H77 ITX board I had lying around my office... but I'm happy with what it does at stock speeds and voltage... can't wait to see what it does with 3X 360mm rads. biggrin.gif
