"We stand for free speech... we are not going to ban distasteful subreddits."

And in Deputy PM's questions yesterday Nick Clegg ardently defended the right of the Sun 'newspaper' to hold onto page 3. Glad to see there are people who still stand for free speech, freedom of the press etc, no reason why internet should be any different. We all have minority opinions and tastes in some form. We need to learn to tolerate distaste its the lesser evil.

Good for them. Censorship is almost never a good thing.

So it's okay to post pictures of unsuspecting women, even underage girls, but posting someone's identity is a bannable offense even if the information exists in public domain?

Almost never a good thing, I'll give you that. But when you take photos of someone without their knowledge or consent, then proceed to post those pictures all over the internet, I feel like that's crossing the line. When you knowingly and willfully violate someone's privacy like that, I don't feel like that should be protected under free speech. I haven't (and probably won't) look at what pictures they're talking about, but there are certain things that cross the line and I would think should be removed, that's one of them.

You make a good point I was being quite narrow minded, if it really is that intrusive it's up to Reddit to moderate it in good taste but it's their decision to make.

Shame Clegg wasn't so steadfast about University fees. I see his game. Force students to go topless in Page 3!

It's 100% never a good thing. I'm sick of stuff being pulled or gagging orders being withheld. It's like, British Footballers won a gagging order on the press stopping them from publishing information that would damage their image. Imho, since they live in the public eye, we ought ton know what dirty deeds were done so we can correctly avoid them and make sure they become penniless zeros. Thanks to Twitter we found out what it was.

So some dude sticks in a peep camera in the shower of a hotel (without the hotel's knowledge) and gets pictures/videos of people and posts them all over the internet, you that should be allowable? Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but that's an invasion of privacy and it should be taken down/blocked. I'd be mad as hell if pictures of someone I cared about were thrown about the internet with no regard for their privacy, especially if they did absolutely nothing wrong.

On the one hand good, on the other hand anything that could get rid of the sun...

Maybe I'm an idiot, but what's wrong with taking photos and posting it on the internet?
