When PD Is Released Thinking Of Snagging A Cheap BD....... But Have X6 @4+Ghz! Q's Please!!

Hi when PD is released soon i'm betting AMD will drop the price of the BD chips out in the wild now. This is a tempting idea because i would have the chance to "max" this rig out (BETA BD BIOS i don't think ASUS will support PD on this MoBo imho). I would be adding 8Gb of DDR3 1866/2133 and think this would last me a few years. I game on a 1080p HDTV so one GPU is more than enough. My X6 is @4160Mhz and performs well enough i'm just looking for some "new tech" to play with:rolleyes:.

1. What sort of OC would i have to put on a 8120 to match (or exceed) my X6 @4160Mhz? Im not fussed about "smashing" the X6 JUST equal (maybe slightly faster if poss) performance. And would this be possible with a H50??

2. If i got it to match the X6 would it still pull ahead in encodes (due to the extra two cores?).

Has anyone gone from a good (4Ghz) clocked X6 to a 8120/8150 if so how did you find the experience? Same for windows/day to day tasks OR faster? What about gaming against the X6 same/slower FASTER?? Hope someone can shed some light on what is a confusing issue as lots of people say slower than X6 some say equal in gaming etc some say faster BUT needs X Mhz extra to win. Don't mind clocking it some extra as long as it is equal or win imho.

Thanx.

Thanks for the reply. So if i was to clock an 8120 to 4500Mhz it would be equal (or faster) in most tasks to my X6@ 4160Mhz. I would be happy with that imho and have the "extra" two cores available when (IF!!) game devs ever get on the "more than four" cores bandwagon. Although BD never lived upto the hype i've always had an "urge"rolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif to get one i just wanted to be sure i could at least equal my X6 (which won't be wasted just passed down the line) maybe to my bro who's 1090BE needs 1.5v+ to get to 3.9!!

Thanx.

8150 is better or equal than 1100t at stock, so any equal OC, or better, would beat it.
